Police Certificates from Paraguay and Brazil for K1

Hello,

My fiancé is applying for the K1 visa at the consulate in Rio de Janiero. We have received our NOA2, and we are gathering documents for the interview. However, we are a little confused about the requirements for the police certificates/background checks. My fiancé lived in Paraguay for more than 10 years, but he is Brazilian and was born in Brazil. The consulate asks for police certificates from all countries that he has lived in for more than 6 months.

So, we're wondering if the document we need from Paraguay is the  "Certificado de Antecedentes Policiales". If this is the document we need, what is the easiest way to get it?

We appreciate any feedback! :)

I cannot answer your exact question but my Fiancee needed reports from Ireland and Korea.  Make sure you have everything that is not in English translated.  They will require the translation at the interview.

PHILIPPINES ONLY!!!  CFO (Commission on Filipinos Overseas) INFO - Can't leave home without it!

PDOS (Pre-Departure Registration and Orientation Seminar) is for ages 20-59.  Peer Counseling is for 13-19 years of age.

It is required to have the visa in their passport for PDOS and Peer Counseling.

GCP (Guidance and Counseling Program) is for K-1 Fiancee and IR/CR-1 spouse ONLY.

I know of a girl who studied for one or more years in Germany and she had to get this certificate for herself. She found out at the interview. She was put on administrative hold while she got the remaining evidence for her visa request. So wherever your fiancè has lived for more than 6 months month since he turned 16 years of age he must have these documents. Also every state of Brazil that he has ever lived in for the same period, he must have the certificate from each one. Good luck.

Here is a link I found that may help you get the document you need from Paraguay

https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/fees/reciprocity-by-country.html

It appears that it must be requested in person. I hope this helps.
