Passport transit times after interview

Hi folks,

My auntie had her interview last Sept 18 and as of Oct 5, we're still waiting for the passport. She was petitioned by her PR husband.

I was wondering what's the current transit times from interview to passport delivery nowadays?

I called the embassy hotline and they said the passport is still in the embassy.

We might need to rebook her flight but we really don't know when the visa will arrive(PAL rebooking fee is kinda steep)

Thanks in advance for the info.

Sounds like Administrative Processing, which can take days, weeks, or months.  Is she in Pakistan?  What did the officers tell her at the interview?

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Thanks.. She's in the Philippines.. She was told that her visa was approved and just wait for the delivery.

No one can say for sure when one can anticipate their visa. We have experienced from one day to over six months.

The Embassy clearly states  do not finalize arrangements for travel to the United States, dispose of property, or resign from your job until a visa
has been issued and delivered to you. Generally, a single-entry fiancé(e) (K1) nonimmigrant visa is valid for six
months from the date of issuance, unless its validity is limited by medical or other restrictions.

Other visas may have different expiration timelines. Refer to your visa when it arrives.

Being "APPROVED" at the interview does not mean your visa will be issued the next day.   Actually approval does not happen until after the case file has its final review, then you will see ISSUED status on the CEAC website.  After ISSUED it can be another 5-10 working days before the visa will be delivered.

To track your visa status on the CEAC use the link below:

I won't even touch on the scheduling flight thing, others covered that very well.  ;)

Once you have the visa and DO NOT OPEN envelope your auntie will have to get her CFO sticker, depending on age she may have to attend a CFO seminar or simply register with CFO

Good news!!   Very possible 2GO will have the package today, it usually takes a couple days for the visa to be printed and everything packaged for delivery.

If you auntie is not too far away delivery could happen very soon.
