Exactly, try walking in to your local USCIS office, present the airline ticket and tell them it is an emergency to get a stamp on your passport because you need to fly out of the country. If you talk to them, they will let you in. Try doing that before you spend so much money on this letter.

I wish we could file all applications online - very easy - won't let you file too early - uploaded documents - paid online!

Hi guys, I have been following this thread for awhile and it sure gives some comfort to know there is some form of support.

 

I filed n400 on Monday of this week and still haven't gotten approved for the 10 years GC.

 

I have a question, are anyone of you in a spot that I am in, where my 1 yr extension letter expires 01/12/2019, which means my driver's license expires that same day?

 

I got the '18 month' letter but it's not the original copy. 😞

 

What are your thoughts on how to go about renewing my license.

 

I can not be without my license as I work for the city.

 

I appreciate and welcome all suggestions.

So with this new original copy are we allowed to travel overseas? so can we travel overseas while status pending with expired green card and new extension letter?

Yes. I travelled this August with expired green card and extension letter (orginal). No problem, not even a funny look. I put my expired GC and extension letter in my passport and handed everything to the CPB officer.

I don't know where to post this but I'm an Officer 2017 filer.  My husband (US spouse) committed suicide yesterday.  I'm trying to figure out what I need to do now in terms of my application.  I do hope to stay because we built a life here,  his kids and family are here e.t.c.

I am so very sorry to hear of your loss.  There should be no reason as to why you cannot stay in the USA.  There should be a phone number you can call and someone can help you through finishing up this process.

I finally received the 18 month extension last night. I had received the courtesy copy back in February.

I wanted to update everyone who also got an unofficial extension letter instead of an official one. I got an unofficial one several months ago. Yesterday USCIS finally sent me an OFFICIAL extension letter.

So sorry for your loss. We will try to help you the best we can. I think you need to convert the form into a waiver and you need to have the death certificate ready. I would try to schedule a infopass appointment to explain it to the officer. Also, call them up and ask how you should proceed.
