It depends what service center you filed through but VSC is processing at 14.5 to 17 months, and CSC is 15.5 to 21.5 months.  It's really anyone's guess whether you will have the green card for Christmas, but I'd err on the side of caution and make an Infopass appointment.

Infopass won't give you another extension letter, but they will stamp your passport which will serve as your extension when you are travelling and will allow you to return to the country.

so while my status is pending I need to get an infopass to get a stamp on my passport and then with the stamp I should have no problem to travel overseas with that stamp and with my expired green card? is it safe to travel like that? Thank you!

With this, my case status still has the on March 5th we transferred your case story....

Today I went for an infopass, just to get the I551 stamp as I lost my expired green card, and I haven't left the US since I came in back in 2014, I love the good ol US of A but I need to breath a bit of British air, but anyway to my point/question while at the infopass my wife ( I make her go with me to every infopass) kept asking me to ask them about status and I was reluctant, because I feel we get more information here than in the infopass, but I asked, I got the typical oh your still within the processing time and I can not comment any further as I am not the one working on your case. The agent attending to us then said I needed to take a picture and fingerprints but I have not heard anyone on here state that they had this taken for the I551 stamp,  So I am guessing/hoping she did it for my I751 application she then said they may contact me for an interview...

I don't know if this is correct but I am hoping... lol

Biometrics during i551 happened with us too.  We had a stamp from last year that was expiring. Showed up to the appointment.. USCIS took a photo and both hands index finger prints (yes, only index fingers on both hands). Drew a line across the old i551 stamp (cancelled CWOP) and put a new one valid for another year.

We asked about i751 status. They said it's under review, and may call for an interview which could take another year, which seemed like their typical jargon. They did emphasize that we could file n400 if eligible and both i751 and n400 would then be adjudicated together.

Overall a good Infopass experience, nothing exciting other than getting the i551 stamp. In and out within 30 minutes.

On Friday, I have a scheduled Biometrics appointment in Norfolk, Va for my N-400. It seems like that on Friday, Hurricane Michael will hit Norfolk and their office might be close due to strong winds and flooding.

Can I go to another USCIS Field Office like Alexandria, VA on Friday and do a walk-in?

Infopass scheduled.

We managed to get a 7:00AM appointment. Was not easy, took several days in front of the pc, including staying up till 1:00am a couple of times to snag the appt. When we got to the USCIS office, they asked for the appointment letter which we had a printout of.
