I'm in two minds about having a poke around in the July-17 forum. They've got a very interesting tracking device showing how many cases are getting approved. RFE'd denied, on what days of the week and more. It's like they're code breaking the process. :)

But, I've been gradually accepting living in oblivion for the past few months, so I'm not sure I want to get pulled back in. But my inner geek is very curious and I'm getting all fired up again. Ha ha.

Maybe I'll go have a look-see at what's happening over at the Sep-17 filers thread. Now, like @NeedMoreCoffee says, if they were getting approved, it may affect my thoughts on going for the N400. I dunno.

It depends what service center you filed through but VSC is processing at 14.5 to 17 months, and CSC is 15.5 to 21.5 months.  It's really anyone's guess whether you will have the green card for Christmas, but I'd err on the side of caution and make an Infopass appointment.

Infopass won't give you another extension letter, but they will stamp your passport which will serve as your extension when you are travelling and will allow you to return to the country.

That's odd way of thinking. Ultimately I want to be a citizen, so if that means that ROC takes longer, be it. I was always going to apply for my citizenship as soon as possible, but I didn't know ROC would take SOOO long (for friends that applied 2-4 years ago, it took them 2-3 months only!). Obviously, if you don't want to be a citizen or not sure, it may make sense not to apply for N-400... However, someone who applied for N-400 in September just got her ROC approved within a month after application after 11 months of nothing. So I don't think there is rhyme or reason to anything....
