So....when should we be approved? the letter with the extension should come automatically? some of you just received the letter why shoud I instead go to a infopass?

Should we be approved before December?

October filing approved were from the Vermont center?

thanks guys!

No one really knows when/if we'll be approved, honestly that seems to be strictly up to them. As of right now, if you didn't get an extension letter automatically, the only thing you can do is try to get an infopass appointment. It will ask for your zip code so that you go to your nearest office. Hopefully there will be an appointment available for you.

I'm not sure what exactly you said over the phone, but they gave you a scripted answer. I would have pushed to have them schedule you an infopass since they didn't mail your 18-month letter automatically and your travel is so soon.

That's the million dollar question!

If you filed in October 2017 at CSC, the longest you'd be waiting (for a standard case) within the current timescales is potentially July 2019.  But I can't stress enough, the published time frames shift a lot.

Typically Vermont filers get approved faster because the service center is processing cases faster. Check out the processing times and you can track it all yourself: https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/

There have been approvals from both Vermont and CSC for October 2017 filers and it's anyone's guess as to why some are going faster than others.

I think the only way you're going to find out more about your case, is by getting that infopass appointment. I have no idea why your extension letter hasn't arrived yet, it may be on the way, or there could be another reason. USCIS aren't known for giving out information on a personal level to make this process any easier. You could try calling again and pushing for a supervisor to make the infopass appointment, but honestly, go check it out yourself and see what's available. If there are no appointments that work for you (at your local office), you could ask a supervisor to escalate as your travel is imminent and your extended extension letter hasn't materialised.

Once you're over this hurdle, there's the option to file for citizenship on your 1-year anniversary since applying for the 10 year green card (assuming you came to the States on a marriage visa). So you'd have two applications in-process.

If you go down that route, you may end up having a combi 751/N400 interview and may never get the 10-year green card. But you wouldn't need it, as if successful you'd be done with immigration and filing forms! You'd be a citizen and out of immigration.

But however you proceed, if you haven't already, have a look at the USCIS app for case tracking. It's quite good.

Thank you for the comments, @NeedMoreCoffee@AlluringSoul, @GoodbyeGirl and @nompish😄

I just received the new green card by mail today! Somehow, the address they sent it to me was incorrect (my apt # was missing), so it was deliverable at first...I had to submit the re-delivery request on USPS.com. I just finished calling the Customer Service to correct my address although I don't have any pending cases.

I think I have called them about 10 times since I filed my I-751 to request a NOA letter, ask about biometrics and confirm my new address. Hopefully I don't have to call them again for a while.

Good luck to everyone!!

Thank you!

They received my application on October 16, 2017, a day before yours. I didn't have to go to biometrics or interview, so that's probably one of the reasons why I got approved quicker.  Hope it helps!!

Anyone in my situation=???????????????

October 2017 filer ,no news at all extended letter expired!

Any comment would be highly appreciated!

Thank you!

If your extension letter expired, you have no documentation of your legal status. You cannot wait on USCIS to do something, you have to take matters into your own hands! Make and Infopass appointment, get a stamp in your passport ASAP. You can't wait for the 18-month letter. You need to have documentation of your legal status at all times.

To those of you who have 2 receipt numbers and get updates on the second one: Which letters came with the new receipt number? And is it in any way similar to the initial receipt number?

All my mail pieces have the same receipt number and the status hasn't changed since February. I am wondering if I just don't have the right number to get updates. I'm worried because when I waited for my 2 year GC, one day I got a status update saying they destroyed my card because I supposedly didn't get in touch with them. Turns out that was a human error because the card arrived in the mail 2 days later. Anyway, I would like to keep an eye on my case but it looks like I can't.
