Something in the mail for me from USCIS too - I can see the liberty torch on the front via informed delivery, so I know it is the 18 month extension as above... which is useless to me anyhow given I have a stamp and my N-400 is in progress since I applied in February.

I had hoped the next piece of mail from USCIS would be my N-400 interview appointment, but that would be far too normal and sensible.

When did you apply for N-400?  My friend applied N-400 this February and got Biometrics April.  She was called for interview tomorrow.  So hopefully won't take long for you too.

I just received the 18-month extension letter, VSC. Thank God for the extra 6 months. At least we don't have to deal with getting the stamp before holidays. 🙃

Does your letter have the wording, something like 'this is not the notice but a copy'? Does it have a watermark like the 12-month letter last year?

With all that is going on now, you have nothing to lose if the opportunity is there.

 

 

The earliest FOR the majority of us. There will always be a few cases that get theirs surprisingly faster and way ahead of the curve. Don't quote me on this but last time I checked most of April filers have their gc in their hands or have confirmation that they card are being produced.  A few in May got theirs but that's def not the norm.

Mine looks like a legit original letter. Like the one i received for the 12 months one.

Yes, mine has a watermark and it's the original extension NOA. It says, "This notice, presented with your expired Permanent Resident Card, is evidence of the 18-month extension of your status and work authorization."

Ok, so it looks like some are receiving the original extn letter that includes the watermark, while others, like me, are getting the plain paper copy of the notice.

I called today and was given a BS answer.

Got the extension letter, it's the original. I noticed that they technically only extended it for 6 months. Because it's 18 months from the date of expiry of the GC, which in this case would be June 2019. I still think I'll do the N400 early. The only thing that concerns me is let's say I do the N400 and the GC letter expires. Does the N400 notice of pending case allow travel or in that case I would need the I-551? I forgot how that part works.

"We have mailed an official notice about this case... to the mailing preferences you chose on Form G-28, Notice of Entry of Appearance as Attorney. This is a courtesy copy, not the official notice."

 

 

Did you use an attorney for any part of your case? They're not the brightest people at USCIS so they might have looked for attorney details and sent it there. Definitely call and ask to speak with Tier 2 officer right away. It's not ok for your official letter to be floating around somewhere else.
