Try the Informed Delivery (USPS) service, then you can see what's coming to your mailbox first thing.

Nothing exciting to report at my end. I've got my infopass appointment tomorrow at my local office,  trying to get my biometrics done... and will see if I can find out anything about my case.

If I get nowhere, at least I have a nice lunch to look forward to - a new authentic Italian pizza place has opened up nearby. :)

So here's how I got on today at my local immigration office and ASC. I was after two things, biometrics and whether my case was really being processed there instead of CSC

My appointment was at 9:45am but I was there at around 9:20am and got seen right away after completing security. There was a big picture of Donald Trump hanging on the wall. I was allowed to keep my cell phone as long as I didn't use it and set it to silence. It was a bit like airport security in that I had to take my boots and watch off, empty my pockets and put my stuff in a container to to be x-rayed.

The security guard at the front desk asked to see my infopass appointment letter and that was the first thing the USCIS officer asked to see as well as photo ID. He started smiling when I said I was an I-751 filer so I got the impression straight away that I wasn't the first to come in about the long wait times. He was friendly and said that he used to work at CSC up until recently and they are slammed out there. He looked up my application and said I'd filed 'the old way' and that they are looking to digitize the I-751 process.

I'll just summarise the main points from here. He told me that...

  • my case is not being dealt with at my local office and it's still at CSC
  • since my case was acknowledged (back in Oct-17) it's not been touched and it's not been reviewed yet for biometrics
  • I may not get called for a biometrics appointment, but if I do, my local office hasn't got the request for it yet - so hang tight
  • I'll be waiting for another year at least for approval (that's March 2019) - he said that's based on current processing times
  • the information on my case (I showed him what I see on my phone via the Case Tracker) being 'received at my local office' just made him laugh
  • it was too early to say if I'll need to sit an interview but looked dubious when I asked if it's more likely nowadays that I-751 applicants will need to take this step
  • I will need to come back in December to get a stamp in my passport, and that will probably get issued for a year. It felt like this was pretty standard and I wouldn't have to sweat it

He was very nice and friendly, pretty much told me that I can travel and get on with my life, and wait it out. He said if I do get called for an appointment and I'm overseas, Tier 1's can reschedule easily.

So no further forward but I'm glad I went. I found the office easily and I didn't have to wait. It was a nice sunny day and the new pizza place just down the road was awesome!

This is just awful :( March 2019... when originally applied, I really thought that by summer 2019 I would be a citizen but at the speed of things :( Thank you for sharing though!! <3  Did you get that message online that your stuff was transferred to the local office or not? I am trying to figure out if that's a glitch or what.

I got the 'case received' message' too. First date was 26 Feb, which then changed to 5 March. No notice in the mail. Feel like I've done all I can now, really going to try and put my energies into trying to forget about my green card progress (easier said than done :)

I am debating about filing for the N-400 in October. I know the basics but will probably start looking into what's needed around July.

I'm expecting a really long wait for the 10 year green card but things can change. There's always a chance that we could all be clearing this hurdle sooner than we think.

We all could hope the 10-yr green card is approved sooner than expected, at least we could see the shiny new thing in our hands for a short period of time. But better to go for n400 once the window opens, if that is indeed the end goal.

Talk about that work ethic... killing those applications.

That now puts us about 20 days ahead since they finished with cases from 22 Sep 2016.

I did wonder if we'd see a massive leap if all the transfers had really happened.

Ha ha.

Laughable

CR1 / DCF (London): 2012 / 2013 (4 months from I-130 petition to visa in hand)

I-751 #1- April 2015 [Denied]

April 2015 : I-751 Joint filing package sent fedex next day 09:00am from UK ($lots - thanks).
Jan 2017: Notification that an interview has been scheduled at a local office. Bizarrely still no RFE...
Jan 2017: 2hr wait, then interview terminated before it began, due to moving my ID to another state 2 wks prior. New interview 'in a few months...maybe.'   Informed them that divorce proceedings are underway, but not finalised at this time.
March 2017: An Interview was scheduled - marked as no-show as they didn't actually send out a notification of interview. FML
April  2017: Filed an official complaint with the ombudsman, and have requested Senator & Congressman assistance
August 2017: Interview - switched to a (finalised) divorce waiver. Told that decision will be made that afternoon, but no problems foreseen with my case.
October 2017: Letter of Denial received - reason given as 'I-751 petition was not properly filed'. Discovered ex-spouse made false allegations to USCIS in 2015. No opportunity given to review & refute allegations  - contrary to USCIS policy.

I-751 #2 - Oct 2017 - Mar 2021[Denied]

October 2017: Within 72hrs of receiving denial notice, a new waiver I-751, divorce decree & $680 cheque, sent to Vermont via FedEx overnight 9am priority.
Dec 2019: Filed FOIA request for full A# file
Feb 2020: FOIA request completed - entire A# file received as a .PDF; 197 pages fully redacted, and 80 partially redacted. Don't waste your time!
March 2021: I-751 #2 denied for lack of evidence. No RFE, no interview, and evidence in previous I-751 not reviewed - contrary to policy. Huge errors in adjudication.

N-400 - Feb 2018 - Apr 2021 [Denied]

February 2018: N-400 filed online.  $725 paid to the USCIS paperwork wastage fund

February  2019: Interview - cancelled after a four hour wait due to 'missing paperwork' on their end. Promised Expedited reschedule.

March 2021: Interview letter received, strangely dated after I-751 denial. No I-751 interview conducted. N-400 interview and test passed, given 'cannot make a decision at this time' paper due to the ongoing I-751 nightmare...

April 2021: N-400 denial received citing recent I-751 denial as basis for ineligibility, even though it should have been a combo interview 🤯

I AM JACK'S COMPLETE LACK OF SURPRISE

Service Motion - March 2021 [Sent via FedEx & COMPLETELY IGNORED by USCIS]

March 2021: Service Motion request sent overnight addressed direectly to field office director, requesting urgent review and re-opening, based on errors in adjudication - citing USCIS policy, AFM and memorandums as basis for errors. This was completely ignored by USCIS.

 I-751 #3 - June 2021 - Jan 2024 [Denied]

IT'S GROUNDHOG DAY

June 2021: I-751 #3 (30+lbs/5000 pages of paperwork) & another $680 sent to USCIS via FedEx ($300+..thanks) ....

June 2021: Receipt issued, card charged, biometrics waived, infopass scheduled for I-551 stamp number ten.....

Feb 2022: RFIE (no, not an RFE, a Request For Initial Evidence) received, for copies of the divorce paperwork that they already have 😑

July 2022: Infopass for I-551 stamp number eleven.....

August 2023: Infopass for I-551 stamp number twelve....

January 2024: Denial received, ignoring the overwhelming majority of the filing, abundance of evidence, and refutation of a provably false allegation. The denial also contradicts itself in multiple places, as if it was written by someone with an IQ <50.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

2024: FML. Seriously. I'm done.
