If this means that the local offices are processing the I-751s to clear the backlogs at CSC and Vermont (and not farmed out to other service centres), I really hope approvals speed up and the local offices don't get slammed.

VJ is hopping with interest, don't know for sure what the bulk transfer of so many cases really means and the implications. Developing news I guess.

I want to see case approvals dates to get an idea of any improvement in wait times.

I've been monitoring and noticing the building interest on VJ the past couple of days. I suppose we'll have to wait n see what the transfer buzz is all about. We don't mind an interview -if it were to happen- as long as i751 processing speeds up at our local office.

I've seen nothing about transfers on the USCIS news updates page.

Ooooh... what does this mean? Checked my status today after seeing other VJ ROC filers posting the same thing. Think I'll give USCIS a call. I was going to try for an infopass appointment but now not sure if this means things are moving?

@GoodbyeGirl, thank you for posting this.  So... from my understanding... the original NOA provide the first case number.  Historically, this first case number (receipt of I-751) could not be looked up on the case status website.  I remember trying to add the first case number and receiving an error.  It wasn't until the ASC does biometrics where you'd be provided the second case number (CRI-89) to lookup case status.

To confirm, I logged into my USCIS account to check case status.  I already had second case number added which, following... I tried to enter the first case number and it takes it successfully this time around.  I notice a very similar case history to what you posted that aligns with when I had submitted an online inquiry/service request regarding not receiving biometrics letter.  Looking at the dates... this status is not too helpful.  It basically mentions the same dates to when I submitted the inquiry and received the message that we were added to the appointment scheduling system.

If you correlate the dates on the case history above... does it match the email correspondence you received when submitted the online inquiry?

All in all, sounds like you received the same general update that everyone is experiencing.  I would say... doesn't hurt to make an INFOPASS appointment to try to get biometrics done you think it will give you peace-of-mind.  Worse case, they say no... wasted trip.  But potentially they let you through and get it done.  *shrug*

No formal word from USCIS. Wonder what the CSC processing times will look like next month. Will it dramatically improve since so many cases have been transferred out?

I thought waiting 4 months to get my 2-year GC was stressful. Now I'm at the 4-month wait mark for the 10-year GC and all I really have to report is an NOA, cashed cheque and that my case is now with my local office. I really feel for the bazillion filers before me who are still waiting post the 1-year mark.

Do you know what happens at 1 year mark? Like do you get an extension?

You are right, Vincent Chu, it seems that with these transfers, NOA receipt numbers will now work to track case status. I couldn't do that before today and as I haven't had my biometrics appointment yet, I don't have any other tracking number. So that in itself is a result and using the USCIS app is quick and easy.

And yes, my case history dates for my service inquiry and missed notification all match.

I called my husband about all the buzz happening and he thinks we should hold off making an infopass appointment (for the biometrics) for about a month. His thinking is that things may now speed up. I dunno though.

Best of luck with your case!

Hello vi-vi. :) About 6-8 weeks before my extension expires (Jan-2019), I'll try for an infopass appointment to get the I-551 stamp in my passport. From reading posts at VJ, it seems that's down to the discretion of the local office, but is usually a 6-month or 1-year extension.

@WeGuyGal you got me thinking. I've just got a new passport from my home country (UK) as mine was just about to expire. I hope this doesn't cause me any problems if I have to get a stamp. All I can find on this is that you need a valid passport, which I have, so I hope it's not an issue that my new passport doesn't show the K1 visa insert.

While I'm here, after today's case transfer buzz, I had a look at my local office processing times (Wichita, Kansas). Like a lot of field offices, they are only showing 3 types of application, and the I-751 isn't listed.

Not sure what to make of that, surely I can't be the only one? ;)

Well the K1 visa is no longer valid for entry, so should be no issues about the visa foil. It was the same with us, the expired CR1 visa in the old passport with the old name. So we got the legal name change, then got a new passport to reflect the new name, followed by the i551 stamp in the new passport.

@nompish Same timeline and status as me, 4 months and no biometrics but my case has now been moved to my local office. I keep checking for formal word from USCIS on here, the 'Workload Transfer Updates'.

I'm hoping USCIS will update this page soon to confirm the latest (and relieve any worries this is a huge glitch). It's probably stretching too far to hope for more than a one liner. I want to know what the local offices will do with the cases, how is it different from the service centres, why were they moved, does this have an impact on processing times and does this mean there is any change to existing policy, say mandatory interviews for I-751 filers?

No case updates for me today unfortunately.

CSC recieved my I-751 on 2017/10/16.

Got a receipt letter but never recieved biometrics notice.

I inquired a month later they told me to just wait and that i had been put into the automatic schedular.

fast forward 4 months later (today)

I notice everyone seeing movement with their cases.

No case update for me yet though.

I'll wait another week or so then ill call and see if they can give me any information if my case hasnt updated online already.

Just sharing my process with all this. Let me know your thoughts!

Thanks guys.
