Fiance SSN/Card Question

Ok semi-unique question here. My fiance already had a SSN from when she was here on her F1 Visa and when she got her OPT card. When she lands under her K1 visa do we need to get a new SSN for her since that card is tagged for work authorization only? I want to make sure we follow the procedure properly in particular because of her plans to change her name after we marry. I wasn't sure if they just change the existing SSN they have assigned to her or have to issue a new one since she is now a K1 not an F1/OPT recipient.

No need to get a new SSN. She can use the one she was given before. it is for life.

 

Just so you know the card officially says "VALID FOR WORK ONLY WITH DHS AUTHORIZATION"  If you read it carefully, it is NOT for authorization for work.

 

She can go to the local SS office and have her name changed on it using her old number. She will still not be authorized to work until she adjust her status and file for EAD.
