Actual SLEC visitors since Oct1- Sputum Test Still Required?

Asking for any actual visitors to SLEC since Oct 1, 2017 to confim information on TB testing.  My questions are:

1. For those age 15 and above with an observed possible scar on x-ray, did they then use IGRA to confirm or did they go to Sputum Test?

2. For those <15 Yrs age and got IGRA instead of previous skin test, if positive did they:

a. Then confirm with Sputum test or

b. Go direcly to 6 months treament.

Thanks for the info. If you have done this you would be helping a lot of people understand this new procedure.

I found out my own answer as SLEC just updated their website flow charts.

Sputum test is still used for those showing a positive IGRA blood test or X-ray abnormality.

From that flow chart it appears they are not completing Xrays anymore.. UNLESS the IGRA is positive.  Interesting.  Thanks!

Still curious to hear back from others.   Curious if they are still completing Xrays on day 1 .

I just had my medical last week after they have implemented the IGRA test. Apparently, the IGRA test is only for kids under 15 y/o. However, it is also used in an instance when a family, say a family of 4, and one of them had abnormality in their xray making him take the sputum test. The other three, who have originally passed the xray test, won't be able to take their immunizations yet until after the one family member turns negative for the first part of the sputum test which is the smear test. If he turns negative, the other three family members will undergo the IGRA test. That's the time IGRA test will be used for adults over 15 years old.

Yup. That makes me wonder why the price increase for adults, right?

Hank Yes they are still doing X-Rays for >15 years old or children exposed to TB or previous history of TB. THe charts I showed were the Day 2 charts.  It is all clear on the SLEC website now. http://www.slec.ph.  Also they just put out new info on when the IGRA Results will be ready. Conclusion. Get in line early.

Ya I was on the SLEC and checked that out.

Still, why the increase in the adult medical fee .. IGRA isn't on their menu.

Ya I question that too but probobly we will never get the answer to that. Just both of the fees have changed.

The price increase for adults due to the implementation of the IGRA test (which is only required for kids) really bugs me because WHY do adults even have to pay for the additional fee too? Nonetheless, i think the high price they have is because they are following the US standard and apparently in the US, anything related to your health is priced incredibly high especially if you don't have any insurance. This is a taste of what we are about to face once we enter the US..
