I-130 Expiration & Long Term Travel

Hello,

 
We have filed our I-130 which was approved on July 14th this year.
 
As part of our honeymoon, we plan on traveling around the world for 6-12 months. Can we wait to file the visa petition until after that or is there any kind of expiration date on the approval of the I-130? If so, what other options do we have?
 
For example, could we travel for 9 months and then come back to London (or do remotely) the remaining paperwork and do the medical exam and interview?
