Is there anyone that went through NVC and US Embassy in Lagos that used only a Attestation of Birth issued from NPC? No Birth Certificate.
"The Attestation has all the info on it but I hear many used the Attestation to get the Birth Certificate.

Asking for a friend.

How old are they and why wasn't their birth recorded ?

He's 37.  The thing is I don't believe NVC nor embassy will accept just a Attestation. The NPC is telling him he only needs the Attestation. They know better.

I know my husband went to NPC and got his Age Attestation and the NPC Birth Certificate. He has his original one given at birth but we didn't want to have no wahala so we knew NPC ones will be accepted.

Older people can use only the attestation if there were in an area where records where destroyed ( such as the Biafra conflict )   The issue with no birth certificate and Nigeria is that so many people hide behind various names.   What records are available for this person ?  School ? Church?

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

@NigeriaorBust..He is 37 years old...My understanding is that he can use the birth of attestation along with a signed and Sworn Affidavit from someone who has knowledge of his birth, like an aunt, uncles, pastor, etc..Does he need the birth certificate and not what's mentioned above? I am sure there are school and baptismal records available, but just want to follow the Embassy guidelines..Thanks in advance!

I used attestation of birth from NPC for USCIS and NVC and it was accepted. My birth cert is laminated and we didn't want to gamble. I haven't gone to the embassy yet but i guess it should be fine.

My petitioner mistakenly sent the original attestation to USCIS when filing and she only discovered when sending documents to NVC. I might have to go get another one(don't know if that is possible) for my interview

@tt28 I am wondering if the birth of attestation can be accepted at the Embassy? I am seeing where it is accepted and then it's not. I know there are people who has gone through the Embassy in Nigeria that has the answers..I guess I have to keep doing my research..

It should be fine to use one as long as there is a good reason for not having a registered birth record  and the evidence is good.   Sworn affidavits  from  recognized public figures are more trusted than the same from family/friends in high fraud countries.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

Yes you will need a new attestation since originals are required at interview. But take your laminated BC also that might do .

Attestation PLUS corroborating evidence of birth, including:

  • Declaration of age sworn by a relative older than the applicant, preferably the mother
  • Hospital records
  • Baptismal records
  • LGA "birth certificates"

@afrocraft he only has the Attestation of Birth and the sworn Affidavit signed by an uncle....The registrar at the NPC told him those forms are acceptable for the embassy..He doesn't have any of the last 3 you mentioned and that's why he got the Attestation of birth along with the sworn affidavit....

Sorry if I was unclear: Any of the docs will do. The attestation + older uncle's affidavit is fine.
