Well what do you consider extra explanation? Would you say that you'd rather travel again and say you're gonna visit your girlfriend again or would you say you're visiting your fiance?

I'd say I'm visiting my fiancée. I meant that even saying that, I'm pretty sure that in many cases you don't even have to give any explanation about the fact that you started the K1 visa process, simply because there isn't any further questioning.

You need to be a 100% honest, in my opinion, but that doesn't mean you have to disclose all of your situation if they don't ask you.

Hi Guys! I'm sure how many persons have done this but to help those would rather wait for an email notification based on the update to their case or if you periodically check your case via the USCIS website using your case #, I would advise setting up and account with on the USCIS website to have automatic email updates based on your case # sent to you. I'm not sure how far that G1145 form extends but I'm thinking it's only for the text/email for the NOA1. By signing up for an account on the USCIS website you can get both text/email updates for your case whether it's an RFE notice, when your NOA2 is ready, etc. I'll still check periodically but it's nice to know I can receive realtime updates instead of waiting for something in the mail B-).

Also if you're not interested in signing up (free of course), just reminder as well as a something of note who may not be aware, you can manually check for updates to your case from the website below.

After USCIS approves the petition, it is sent to the National Visa Center (NVC). The NVC will assign you a case number and send your petition to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate where your fiancé(e) lives.

The NVC will mail/email you a letter when it sends your fiancé(e) case to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate. Once you receive this letter, inform your fiancé(e) to take the below-listed actions to apply for a K-1 visa and prepare for the interview.

Right! I agree with this. I've read of horrific cases of people being denied entry or being completed grilled upon reaching POE but I've also read about persons who have simply said they're visiting their fiance and they received very simple questions such as "how long have you two been together" or "when is the wedding?" in a very conversational manner from the CO. I think it's just gonna be a matter of luck as well as your attitude.

So, I know I'm going to be a November filer since I haven't received the NOA1 yet BUT I just checked my bank account and it looks like USCIS deposited my check today. Is it weird that I haven't gotten an email/text? I did include the electronic notification form in my file.

When was your packet delivered? I know mine was delivered on 10-27 around 10am and I got my E-notification last night (11-1) around 5 and the check cleared sometime last night. I wanted to be an October filer but I guess I am a November 1st filer.

Well it's really how you wanna think about it. Technically, you FILED in October so you're an October filer :D but the USCIS processes based on the NOA1 (to my knowledge). Now in actuality this doesn't really matter imo because the processing is done by each Adjudicator as well as their system in a day by day process but also there's no real mass order of when things are processed considering that it really depends on your adjudicator's load and how long he/she takes to review their case so people who were filed later can get lucky and get their processing done sooner. From what I've read from several sources each personnel has a quota per day (as expected) and this is a numeric value so it's not a case of for example, "getting all cases for May 2,2017 done before October 1st", so basically my point is don't worry about it too much. Just gotta keep hope alive and you're always welcome here! ;)

Oh yes I know you are 100 percent correct I would just feel better to say my NOA1 was October rather than November. Either way I am sure mine will process at a record breaking speed.:D:D:D

Mine wasn't delivered at the lockbox until 10/28 due to a delay. So they've actually only had the packet for 4 days I suppose. It's 4pm in Dallas now so they best be sending my text SOON :D

Awww! @AnaUmo, you are in spirit. Seriously, I agree to this 💯%. I downloaded an USCIS App on my phone and have settings for any update on my case, including similar cases like mine. It's really cool. I need not go to USCIS website again for my case status.

Hi friends, we sent in our packet last week on the 23rd and received our text/email confirmation today. Does anyone know if that means our NOA 1 date will be listed as today? Or is today simply the day that they received the packet?

The NOA 1 date will be written, as Notice Date. Check the mail you got.

I'm also considering visiting my fiancée in February-March next year through JFK. I'm also worried I could have some kind of problem at the airport. The thing is last time I visited her (August 2016) I didn't have any problem at all, even when I said I was visiting my girlfriend, though at the time we weren't "officially" engaged nor had applied for the K1 visa yet. It's also true that the officer also asked me how long we had been dating (4 years at the time) and had previously traveled to the US twice before, so that might have counted in my favor.

I'm inclined to think that most times you just don't need to give any extra explanation, and if the questioning leads you in that direction, you'll be fine as long as you're upfront and have the usual evidence to show you'll be going back.

I just got back from US visit 3 weeks ago ( 6-15 Oct ), 2 months ago (1-16 Sept ) and going to US in 2 weeks for Thanksgiving ( 17-26 Nov).

I haven't faced any problem at POE yet ( I hope I won't ever) they did ask what the purpose of visit - I said visiting my Fiancé for the 2nd visit and the 1st visit I said visiting my future parents in law and then they stamped my passport.

my opinion is, if you are honest and can prove that you gonna be back to your home country you should be good to go

Good luck folks :D
