If you can update your Service Center to California as TX is just the lock box and your case is not actually an official transfer.

Steven.

An official transfer? What does that mean? Also so even though it says to file it the TX lockbox its always sent to Cali?

After USCIS approves the petition, it is sent to the National Visa Center (NVC). The NVC will assign you a case number and send your petition to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate where your fiancé(e) lives.

The NVC will mail/email you a letter when it sends your fiancé(e) case to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate. Once you receive this letter, inform your fiancé(e) to take the below-listed actions to apply for a K-1 visa and prepare for the interview.

I've updated it but now I have a concern. Since I'm now engaged and have decided to apply for the K1 will this affect my visits to the US? I visit due to my job (meet & greets or site visits) as well as my (now) fiance. I was reading about person's having their B1/B2 visa revoked due to their relationship and the k1.

Yes and no. It's up to the agent at the border. Some people get to continue their visits the entire time the k1 is in process, and others don't get so lucky.  Now you have a very good reason to stay in the US and not go back (your fiance), at least that's how some of them see it. But once your K1 is approved and issued your B2 will be cancelled.  Until then, you never know. Just make sure you constantly have proof of strong ties to your home country.

B1/B2 visa will be revoked during your K-1 interview. It will not affect your visits to the US. It might getting harder since now they will know that you have immigration intent. However, as long as you show to them that you have strong ties with your home-country, everything will be fine.

Hi everyone! I applied for my K1 Visa on November of 2016 and it was approved on February of 2017. I'm here because I decided to record a video telling my k1 journey. I'm from Venezuela so the video is in Spanish. But hope I can at least help those Latin people in here :)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zMjVrYoz3fs&t=14s

Enjoy it!

It's great that you're sharing a video on your K-1 journey :) However, to those who have yet to file their petition, please note the following things because @DianaLucena's submission was before all the changes that took place:

1) Use the current edition I-129F form downloaded from: https://www.uscis.gov/i-129f.

2) Current fee is $535.

3) G-325A is no longer needed as it has been incorporated into the latest edition I-129F form.

Generally the CO will stamp "cancelled without prejudice" in front of the applicant but if he/she doesn't, don't panic. My CO never mentioned anything about cancelling my B2 nor did he stamped it in front of me. But of course when my passport was returned to me with the freshly minted K-1 visa in it, my B2 was already stamped "cancelled without prejudice". Based on what I read on VJ, some people's B2 didn't end up getting stamped cancel. Regardless, you won't be able to use the B2 already as soon as you have a K-1 in it :)

For my I-129F, K-1, AOS, EAD, AP and ROC detailed timelines, please refer to my timeline page :)

ROC filed on December 1, 2020, assigned to SRC, approved within 106 days on February 18, 2021.

My sincerest gratitude to all VJers, especially the late geowrian.

Correct, all petitions go to Texas Lock box. They strip the payment and forward petitions to their next stop . All the I-129F's have been going to Cali (CSC) for at least the last 4 years or so.

If there is a problem with the case they may officially Transfer it to another service center. Normally VSC(Vermont) for further back ground checks. Trust me no one wants there petition to go there it's a bit of a black hole

Also I have another question, what if the petitioner does not have a passport and submitted only their birth certificate? I'm sure the instructions said any of the listed which included a passport as well as a birth certificate.

Can you prove to the Immigration that you two met in two years? No passport? What documents did he/she use to visit you?

I have been the one to visit him for the previous times that we've met in person so he's never needed to have one.

I figured that too but I do remember seeing a few posts saying that most of the petitions have been going to Cali regardless because of backlog.

What to do after NOA2:

Spoiler

After USCIS approves the petition, it is sent to the National Visa Center (NVC). The NVC will assign you a case number and send your petition to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate where your fiancé(e) lives.

The NVC will mail/email you a letter when it sends your fiancé(e) case to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate. Once you receive this letter, inform your fiancé(e) to take the below-listed actions to apply for a K-1 visa and prepare for the interview.

I'll definitely be asking questions as they come along for me. So far I've only submitted the package. I'm curious though that you haven't received a RFE based on your timeline. Can you tell me what exactly you submitted?

I had an attorney handle my Fiancee Visa, everything requested was submitted. They are just getting into May filers now, My Noa1 receive date was May 15.  It's been  145 days,  should be receiving the Noa2 soon. The last I checked,  early May filers are starting to receive Noa2 This is the longest part of the whole process. Once we receive the Noa2 approval it is only a matter 4-6 weeks for interview.
