The NVC will mail/email you a letter when it sends your fiancé(e) case to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate. Once you receive this letter, inform your fiancé(e) to take the below-listed actions to apply for a K-1 visa and prepare for the interview.

This may be a stupid question, but why aren't you typing it. I would assume typing would be preferred by anyone reviewing it.

I actually had issues with the fillable pdf (not all of it was fillable) so i saved what I could fill in and then printed it out and used black ink for the remainder and my additional sheets

I realized I have more videos than pictures (like of me and his family, him meeting my dad, etc) how would they view it? Or should I take screenshots? WIll they ask during interview? Should we also get our "official" dating date together? Because we officially began dating right after labour day of last year.. are they going to question that? it doesnt appear as a question and I didnt put actual dates in our story (which was very very short lol)

I had the same problem with that annoying semi-fillable PDF, and did exactly the same as you.

You don't need exact dates but at least an approximation is expected. Yea you would have to provide screenshots. Videos and other types of media outside of a paper format will not be accepted at either the interview or deposit of the original I-129f.

I had the same issue with the same typing up the format. It's really an issue with the validation mechanism in the PDF they provided. I had to work with several different PDF editors to get the information in but I think they are aware of the issue so writing in what could not be typed should be fine but please ensure that the petitioner is the one filling out everything in writing and of course signs it. To be safe I would attach a little sticky note to the form at maybe the bottom to advise why there is a mixture. Just use something with very little adhesion so it doesn't stick to the paper too much.

For what I know, they don't accept videos at the interview and won't view them, so you're better off bringing pictures and/or screenshots of those videos.

Had the same issue with the PDF. I ended up handwriting the entire thing so that I wouldn't confuse myself.

Making myself physically ill from looking at all of the information from other people who filed and did things differently from what I did.

As long as you filed it following the instructions by the USCIS you'll be fine :)

I didn't have any issues. I even had my fiance message me her address in Thai and pasted it in the boxes. As long as you fill it in legibly I don't think there should be any issue.

1) Amount of times you have met will not be a problem as long as you can provide adequate proof that the both of you are together in a bonafide relationship.

2) No you do not NEED a lawyer. I did it with my fiance and it was fine. If you feel more comfortable having one with you throughout the process then that's fine.

3) I think so. I know for the Spouse visa, both spouses can be there for the interview. I have read of cases where the fiance was there for the interview but some of those cases the fiance was requested to be present. It is possibly different from country to country so I would advise that when you get an interview date you have him reach out to his local consulate and inquire if you can be present.

Thank you so much ! I will do that ! :)

Hello everyone!

We got our NOA1 this week, so I guess that officially makes us October filers! Strange how exciting even this first step is, with everything that is still in store for us the coming 6-8 months (though stubbornly keeping my hopes up for less than that).

For anyone who might be interested: we filed Thursday October 19th, delivered the Monday after (23rd), the check was cashed on Thursday 26th and we got our NOA later that same day. The date on the NOA says October 23rd though, so sticking with that.

Really excited to be in this October bunch with all of you. Hope it's smooth sailing for all of us.

Welcome! You're the first September/October filer I've seen that's going to NYC! I am too :) Good luck!

Hey there Liz, nice to e-meet you! Good luck to you too :)

I've read that JFK can be a tricky POE btw, and also wondering what the NYC local office will be like once we file for AOS. We'll find out some time next year I guess. Are you visiting NYC in the meantime? Would love to stay in touch!
