you could start by looking at the post directly above yours... It is a breakdown of the movement in applications... October hasn't started yet. looks like they're just about to get started with September filers

I didnt see that post when i commented, but thank you ! I did a k-1 in 2016 and I’m shocked how delayed everything is this time of year !

Hi everyone. We filed our petition on October 2017 and since then there were no updates at all when we checked it online. Is it normal?

Yep! They just started working on September 2017 today! Just a handful of cases though, so they're mainly focused on August 2017 I would say. We still have a bit to go!

Thanks! I feel better now knowing that’s normal. I hope it will be soon! I’m excited!

Sending positive vibes to all of us October filers! August cases flew through and I know just by following forums that they don’t have as many September cases. While they will still focus on August this is really good ! Most likely only 3-4 weeks away from seeing october begin !!

Yep we only have 3300 cases (similar to july) so it will be quick and painless.

@Naes I need some advices here. We submitted the petition in October 2017 and I’m so excited with updates. I still got somethings that I’m worried about. I’m the beneficiary and I got a record in my home country Malaysia. It was the only record I got. My question is do I need to apply for petty crime exception and if I do need to, how? Do I need a lawyer for that? Thanks in advance.

I believe Beneficiary's Record is only required at the INTERVIEW STAGE. So, Police Certificates and Court Records are needed. You will have to provide them for your Interview at the USEmbassy.

I believe @Naes will give a deep explanation.

As @ChuAni stated.

other than that I am not that knowledgeable in criminal situations in k1. So what I would suggest is to ask a lawyer (at least a quick consult)

you posted aboout this before right? Did you get any replies?

Thanks! I’ve been worrying about this too much. I’m just worried if they denied my visa. :(

It won't happen at the uscis stage but at the interview stage it will appear on your records so you will definitely need some sort of explanation. About exemption or a waiver I would ask an immigration  lawyer.

Aaah! No! Just obtain the Records/Police Cert. I don't think they will deny your visa for that. When was the record?

Thanks @Naes. I might ask a lawyer here on visa journey.

Yes I posted about this before but no reply at all. :(

Noted. Thanks for your advices!

The record was about 3 years ago, I was 18 at that time. I was convicted with shoplifting. The item was not even worth USD25 and it was a mistake, somebody put it in my bag and I was not given a chance to explain myself. Was sentenced to one day in prison and fined for USD80. I’ve been worrying a lot about this. This visa means a lot for me and my partner as I can’t seem to get a good job and further my study here in Malaysia because of the record and we’re looking forward to start a new journey in US. I’m sorry if my reply is a bit more than what you asked me, I just need to know that this won’t be a problem and I can stop worrying too much. Thanks for your reply anyway. It does make me feel better. :)

Hey group, my fiancée and I are 1st cousins. I indicated this in my application. I also included a letter telling our story which dates back to when were teens. We went our separate ways, married different people but we both ended up getting divorced. Anyway, here we are 20 yrs later, engaged and ready to spend the rest of our lives together. Has anyone heard of a similar case and if this would present any difficulties in our process?

By the way, I live in New Jersey where this type of union is perfectly legal.
