GCP at CFO Completed

My fiancee completed her Guidance and Counseling Program seminar at CFO yesterday.

There is a long form consisting of 3 pages of questions that has to be filled out there.  That is why they require you to sign in 1.5 hours before your scheduled session.

Make sure you have information about the USC there with you.  They asked these questions about the USC:

What is their job?

Where do they work?

What is their religion?

What is their mother's full name?

What is their mother's maiden name?

What is their birthday?

What is their age?

Where were they born?

What is their address in the US including zip code?

What is their email address?

The other questions are about the relationship.

The seminar talks about the culture differences between Phil & the US.  They also give stories of challenges faced by others after making the move.

There was also a short one on one interview where they ask about the reason for annulment and divorce.  They want to see the annulment and the divorce paperwork and may ask for more.  Bring everything with you that you may need.

Rose said it was easy and comfortable.

Keep in mind that she only received a certificate and will have to go back to a CFO office after she has her visa to get her stamp.  In our case, her children will have to take their CFO peer counseling after they receive their visas so she can get the stamp then.  If you do not have kids joining you, it is possible to get your CFO stamp at the CFO office in NAIA on their way to the US.

I strongly suggest getting this out of the way so you have one less thing to do while waiting on the NOA2!

Good luck everybody.

The needed to see her annulment paperwork from Phils and my divorce paperwork from the US.

We are on a K-1 so we are not yet married.  It may be a little different for your IR/CR.

Wow, really ok. Thank you, I think you saved me a headache. I will need to send my wife my divorce decree. Do they return it to her afterwards?

They just look at it there.  They didn't keep anything.  Mine was just a photocopy that I sent with my I-129F filing.  I made copies of everything for her and she was smart enough to bring it all with!

Send an original and a photocopy.  If they need to see the original, she'll have it.  If they ask to keep it, she can give the photocopy.  Generally a copy is sufficient for almost all needs, but it doesn't hurt to have the original if requested.

This is such a waste. Why do they want all of this information, for what purpose.?  What does knowing my mothers name have to do with anything.

Ours is not to wonder why, ours is to do or die!  It makes no sense but it is what they require.  Without the stamp the beneficiary cannot board the plane.  I'm glad it is only around 400 pesos!!!

Like I said, they can charge much more than the 415 php.  My first thought was that since so many use their mother's maiden name as a security question for bank accounts that they are at some point going to try to steal all our identities!

From what I understand, the intent is to protect the Filipino citizen. They want to make sure that they are not doing this against their will (e.g. pressured by family for profit or other reasons), they know their fiance(e), so that they are not going into a bad situation (e.g. sold in prostitution, etc.), and they are aware of the cultural differences and culture shock they are likely to face so they are prepared.

Whether those are in fact the goals or if the program is successful, we cannot know.

Send a copy. Keep your original. No need to "mail" just email and she can print on her side.
