I think it depends on the state. The vast majority of people who sell guns at gun shows are licensed dealers who are required to do background checks weather they are selling at a gun show or anywhere else. Here is a pretty good read in regards to the "gun show loophole" that people like to spout off about who have no idea about guns yet want to make the laws for the rest of us.

Yes, I am aware of that, as well as it’s untruth.  Of course, anyone who is against gun ownership, or perhaps just ambivalent, would likely be unaware of the reality.

 

I recently attended a gun show and tried with three different sellers to buy a gun illegally, and could not. (I was in GA, with an AK drivers license with an AL address on it). The best I could get was to buy a gun on-site, pending the background check, and have it mailed to a FFL at my AL address (where I did not live).  Bottom line, I was not walking out with a gun that day, no matter how many different stories I told the various dealers.

Your right the loophole is more of a private seller thing, and the percentage is very small. I don't have a problem with closing it  . If sell an individual a car as a private citizen they have to register in order to operate it on the road

Again, to be clear, the law states that anyone purchasing a gun via a private sale is required to register it.  The seller is also required to retain pertinent info on the buyer such as name, address, and drivers license info.  Does it happen?  Hardly ever, I would imagine.  Easy to bypass.  

 

Of course, this process, whether or not the seller and buyer do it legally, does nothing in the way of a background check.  You are trusting the buyer not to be a wacko, and based on my experience with ex wives, that is not always easy to detect right away.

Aren't there already a lot of gun control laws on the books to limit what you are implying?  What would be the next law necessary to eliminate this massacre?  Others here in CEHST (not you at least in this post) have suggested the 2nd Amendment should be scrapped as in theory it would make the US safer (i.e. no more guns), is that an option?  If so, wouldn't we also want to get rid of the 4th Amendment as police and the state could keep us safer if they could just barge in and make sure we are not doing anything the state deems evil?

Benzos really shouldn't be prescribed to take on a "daily basis" anymore. We have far better daily maintenance medications for anxiety these days. Ones that aren't addictive.

 

That being said, being on Valium didn't make this man a mass murderer.

They must have been really desperate for a storyline, do they even realize how many people across the US would be currently on diazepam and own guns.

 

Won't be long before the panic sets in, diazepam and guns..killer combination

You better believe it man. My minipoo would rip the throat out of anyone he so much as perceives a threat. That literally could be anyone considering he's an old fella, half blind, and a little traumatized from past abuse.
