Re-Enter Country without OPT EAD Card

Hi All,
I am an F-1 student on Post-Completion OPT, and I began my year in August, but unfortunately, my last name was misspelled and had to return the card. I was informed by the USCIS officer, it would be 30 days, but still now, It has been over 50 and no card.

I am scheduled to go on a trip to Ireland this Sunday.

I have been told mixed stories that I CANNOT re-enter without the EAD card, but also told that I might be able to gain re-entry with my F-1, Passport, Copy of EAD card and letter regarding current employment.

I do not want to risk it too much, but it is important that I head to this personal event.

Has anyone been in this situation, I am jsut worried I would be denied entry, I have contacted USCIS multiple times and they mention they can't control when the card arrives. Additionally, I have contacted CBP, and they mentioned it comes down to the local CBP officer.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi there - I am traveling in Canada with a friend who is also on an OPT visa and she lost her EAD card this evening. We are trying to figure out what next steps she needs to take and I saw this post. Were you able to reenter the country without the card? Any advice is appreciate.

I was given a lot of grief but I had brought enough supporting evidence to help my case.

it was different though, I didn’t lose it, it was a uscis error.

i would be very careful
