Associate Degree - how to fill in?

Hello,

Me with my wife were planning to participate in DV lottery this year.

We were wondering, we study both in Canada in a film school, as our school confirmed - our degree is an Associate Degree (they also call it Post-graduate diploma). I was looking at the forms and couldn't figure out what education level we select.

If anyone knows - would be thankful for answer.

Thanks.

I'm not entirely sure what you have as an associate degree is undergraduate, and a postgraduate diploma is, um, postgraduate (or graduate in US-speak). Depending what it actually is I'd suggest you fill in either the "some university courses" or "some graduate level courses".

We have Post Graduate diplomas on Australia also..They are not equivalent to a US Associates degree. In Australia,  the Advance diploma is the equivalent to an Associate degree.. it is one step before the Bachelors.

My Grad Dip is actually the equivalent of the first year of a Masters,  as I had to already have a Bachelors degree to enter the Grad Dip..I do not think there is a US equivalent, which makes selecting from  the drop down menu a challenge.

Is there an additional information page where you can explain this? I would be selecting Masters, and then writing the explanation  in the extra info section.

Choose "some graduate level courses". You don't need to explain unless you get selected and get to an interview. You shouldn't select masters if you don't actually have one as at the date of entry.

Thanks for all replies.

Both programs that I've completed are 1-year programs. From the school they've send me:

The FP diploma program is an intense accelerated program, of 12 months in duration, but is equivalent to a 2-year diploma program, also known as an Associate's Degree (AD). In the FP program, students accumulate over 60 course credits (over 1100 course hours), which exceeds the 60 course credit hours normally required for a 2-year diploma or AD.

Vancouver Film School is Registered and Designated with the Private Training Institutions Branch (Registration and Designation #00027) and the Ministry of Advanced Education (School Code APHO). For further information on our accreditation please go to

http://www.privatetraininginstitutions.gov.bc.ca/students/pti-directory.

Also to specify - I don't have a bachelor degree and it's not a requirement for this program.

That's exactly the problem - didn't seen an Associate degree option in the online form

There should be a "some university courses" option, that's what you should choose. It's the only option between high school and a competed bachelor degree, and is appropriate for the equivalent of an associate degree.

Mmmm unusual.. will take a look

Not really, as very few other countries have a 2-year degree option.

Check high school  and some University courses

It's only for the highest level so he can't check both.
