Hey everyone! My fiancé and I have picked a day to get married (within the 90 day period) as I am a k1 visa holder and my question is do we have to pay the fee for the work authorization if we are filing it at the same time as the adjustment of status form.? Thank you ☺️

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

I just saw yesterday that the AOS/EAD forms are now streamlined with the SSN!!!  One form gets everything started!

PHILIPPINES ONLY!!!  CFO (Commission on Filipinos Overseas) INFO - Can't leave home without it!

 

PDOS (Pre-Departure Registration and Orientation Seminar) is for ages 20-59.  Peer Counseling is for 13-19 years of age.

It is required to have the visa in their passport for PDOS and Peer Counseling.

 

GCP (Guidance and Counseling Program) is for K-1 Fiancee and IR/CR-1 spouse ONLY.

I'm not sure what you mean here by "streamlined". An SSN has been requested, if you have one, since at least 2010 (as far as I could pull back on those forms).

I saw an update on the USCIS site that the Social Security Administration and the USCIS have finally gotten together and will automatically issue the SSN with the EAD.  No need to apply at each department anymore.  I believe that went into effect on Oct 1.  I will find the article I read.

Yep.  That sounds like government streamlining!!!  Updated forms + instructions + have different checklists for different eligibility categories.  Sounds simple!

 

This actually seems like a good thing if it works.  It is nice that we no longer have to go in person to the SSA office.

I saw the SSN portion on the I-765 form that I downloaded yesterday to review before tackling it in a few weeks. 

 

I was wondering if it is worth it to go this way vs going to get the SSN after POE before AOS, does it matter when you get the SSN?

But if it takes 3 months or longer being combined that could pose a problem to add fiance to bank accout and other joint ventures.
