Dear all,

my husband petitioned my CR-1 visa and we are currently in the process of it all. However, we just made the decision that he'll stay in the military a little longer. It was always something he wanted. Meaning he will likely deploy in 2018.

I have a really good job back in Germany that allows me to work from home or wherever I am. I do have to be present 24 weeks a year (4x 6 weeks) back here. Though, initially we thought I should try and find a job in the US we are debating what the requirements are in terms of naturalisation and green card.

What are the requirements? If I spend 24 weeks (4x6 weeks) back in Europe, would this jeopardise the green card eventually or naturalisation?

The general rule is more time in the US than outside during a 365 day period.  24 weeks outside is less than 26 weeks, so you should be good.  As to naturalization, this requires physical presence for 18 months of the 3 year period (along with the other eligibility requirements), so you should be ok there as well.  Personally, I would keep your job for now, see if you can reduce the amount of time your are needed back in Europe to increase your inside US/outside US cushion, and look at other opportunities in the US.  If you find something better or more to your liking here, then great.
