All the folks here saying the 2nd Amendment is old outdated and needs to be eliminated.  Btw, the Snopes preference is not needed here as the meme never said anything about an Obama pardon.

meh, wanting reasonable gun laws is not the same as eliminating the 2nd amendment - i don't care how well nra propaganda works on ya, it's a pretty big leap.

and i beg to differ, big picture it is needed as this sort of meme is used to change the narrative - as you say - with little to no relevance.

why focus on a old white guy getting off over 200 rounds into a crowd of innocent people when a gun trafficking crime was committed by a black man in 2014 during the obama administration?

Why would any sane person ask why?  He is a criminal,  making it easier for people to obtain illegal weapons.  He should be in jail, not out selling guns.

criminals are going to do as they will, talk to merle about the pointlessness in having laws.

Ha! Yes, more laws is always the answer. If only they made it extra super duper doubly illegal to commit murder then none of this would have ever happened.

dude, i was agreeing with you. as a fellow anarchist - i question any reasoning arguing for laws in civil society as they will only be broken. "the point is there ain't no point"

Why do you focus on his race?  Can you not understand that he traffics in illegal weapons, was not imprisoned, and continues to sell illegal weapons?  Is that not a problem for you?

steps toward limiting gun violence via unfettered access - basically the reasoned opposite of rounding up all american citizens and taking away all their guns - which i haven't actually seen anyone suggest.

What "steps"?

What is your suggestion for how we deal with our homicide rate in the USA, which is 7 times higher than other high income countries? Homicide rate, not just gun violence.

A reasonable alternative would be focusing on mental health, but that gets ignored as well. Every healthcare bill attempting to repeal the ACA so far would have eliminated coverage for people, including what little mental health coverage they have. Furthermore, the proposed bills wanted to eliminate the requirements of a set minimum coverage, allowing insurance companies to strip down their plans and make coverage even worse.

So if not better gun control, and not mental health. What should we do to make sure these events stop happening with such frequency? We are unique in the world for this problem, so what do you see is the solution? Are we just an inherently more violent group of people?

Thoughts/Opinions about the woman aside, I actually quite like the quote that has been going around attributed to Gloria Steinem (though she didn't actually originate it):

"I want any young [person] who buys a gun to be treated like young women who seek an abortion. A mandatory 48-hours waiting period, written permission from a parent or a judge, a note from a doctor proving that he understands what he is about to do, time spent watching a video on individual and mass murders, traveling hundreds of miles at his own expense to the nearest gun shop, and walking through protestors holding photos of loved ones killed by guns, protestor who call him a murderer."

I wouldn't take it all literally, but just the idea.

Guns shouldn't be something you can walk into a "gun show" and walk out an hour later with. They should be a committment that requires advanced thought, training, education PRIOR to purchasing. A gun license should be at least as hard to acquire as a driver's license, including having a test. Also at least as expensive as registering a car (though I honestly don't know how expensive a gun license/registration is right now, if it costs anything). You should have to demonstrate you know how to properly handle one, how to properly care for one, and how to properly store one. All of that should be BEFORE purchasing the weapon.

and like buying claritin d - if i attempt to buy too much (if i use a pill a day, i will inevitably run out day 31 of a long month and hit my 30 day limit) my name is flagged and i can't purchase my claritin. but with guns/bullets - buy as many as you want? logic.
