Guns don't matter to me at all. No desire to "take my country back"

The attack in France with a lorry was a horrific act.

However that doesn't change the fact that those scenarios are FAR harder to come by than massive gun attacks. Can they happen? Of course they can. But guns, which are exclusively a violent weapon, are a far lower hanging fruit that cause far more damage.

As I said before, even with gun control no one would expect gun attacks to disappear. Nothing is going to make it go away 100%. We will still have crazy people, we will still have terrorists. Evidence from other countries just show that we will have less if we have better control and limit access to deadly weapons. Alternative means will still exist, but the most common ones (acid, knives etc...) aren't nearly as deadly.

Yes people can steal a plane and use it as a weapon. But the frequency with which that happens is not the same as gun violence. Not to mention the fact that they can BOTH be addressed at the same time.

Ahh, the Stratford attack. Not to minimize it but that was described as 6  minor injuries. How does that even compare to what we have seen caused by firearms?

Again not to minimize the violence involved in the acid attacks but...

The UK is already working towards banning their sale to minors.

"But what about my right to bear acid!?!?!"

It really isn't that complex. You see a problem that impacts the safety and security of your people, and you work to fix it. That is what a government exists for. Priorities should be right to life > right to carry a deadly weapon every day of the week.

It is also possible to have more than one problem and guess what? You work on BOTH! Gun control may not be the only solution, but there is no reason why we can't work on that while also improving our access to mental health (instead of trying to take it away, along with health insurance that helps people who get injured by guns).

It is always interesting being married to a Brit. The biggest thing for her in all these tragedies is the fact that as a country we put someone's right to carry a violent weapon above our people's access to healthcare. Someone has the right to a deadly weapon, but people don't have a right to healthcare. Those 400+ people who will injured by that man's "right to bear arms" will all have medical bills that they are responsible for. I hope they have insurance.
