I don't know of another Western country that has the same gun ownership culture as the US?

There are gun crimes & violent crime in the UK where it is illegal to own a firearm outside of an authorized club.

The US is unique in many ways & because of this it's not possible to look outside it's borders for a solution.

But spouting the same rhetoric every time only serves to heighten the divide between the 2 sides.

I think that any real attempt to remove/amend the 2nd amendment would generate a revolt on a large scale.

If that's the case then America will carry on having mass shootings and accept mass shootings are part of the fabric of this country because there isn't nothing they can do about it.

130 killed 268 injured in France in November of 2105 by Terror attack using mostly guns (gun laws are very strict in France)

86 killed 434 injured in July 2016 using a truck, in France

Manchester England 22 killed by a bomb in May 2017

There is a common thread her and it isn't guns. Anyone want to hazard a guess.

Now you show me statistics of those things happening EVERY year in those countries like here in America? Shall I post all of them here in the United States in just one year? Take you a while to read them! Probably the entire day going back to 2015.

I noticed that as well last time I went to Walmart a couple weeks ago as well. It used to be around half the case was empty but the whole case was full, so it made it hard for me to get the ammo I wanted. I was looking for .22LR as well but the walmart assoc was an ### and kept hurrying me along.

I was going to the range today but snowing, they are putting in a 200yder and a 1000yd is on the horizon.

Got a couple of boxes of cheap 308 to sight in.

Same comment I have seen in  London by the Mayor about Islam

So there is no set definition? Looks like to me the GVA defines it as four or more people which are either killed or injured during the incident which makes it 273. Even so its far too many.

You are forgetting the distinction "selected indiscriminately".  How many of those mass shooting from the site that you have yet to actually post a link to are the result of gang violence, or domestic violence where the victims are selected deliberately.  Wikipedia lists 13 so far this year not including LV.

I told my wife that I want a .308 next and I WILL get it within the next 3-6 months. I want a longer range weapon because I have a couple AK's that are my midrange, and a couple shotguns and a pistol for my short range weapons. I do want to buy my wife a pistol as well, and I will stick to either a .40 caliber or a 9 mm.

As was said several times earlier in this thread there is a link between the inadequate mental health provision and these incidents.

It's unlikely that the perpetrators of these atrocities showed no signs of their mental state prior to acting.

It's not a complete solution but it can't hurt to make mental health treatment readily available?

Everything crossed for a smooth and stress free journey

Best to let her choose what suits here, could a .40 have too much kick?

I have a CC Permit but nothing to CC! Bit silly.

Use a proper definition of "Mass Shooting" instead of the definition for multiple homicides.

Already been there and refuted the argument of 274 or whatever mass shootings.

I wish I had that problem of having a CCP but no weapon to use it with. I live in Los Angeles County which is notoriously hard to get a CC permit unless you are rich, a celebrity, or a friend of the sheriff. So I have carry my trusty Kukri knife when I head up to the mountains for work.

I have a Glock 22 .40 so I would like to stick with that caliber but I will let her decide.

What we are glossing over right now but my local radio station here in SoCal pointed out that he must have planned this out for a while because he got a suite on a VERY BUSY weekend. So either he preplanned it or paid top dollar for the suite he was in.
