Yes two thirds of states blah blah I'm aware.

blah blah blah? The key part with that is that there are not a small amount of states that can just change the constitution willy nilly like. If that was the case then the entire NE, Illinois, and California would join up to change it.

I did a little checking, essentially they are calling every shooting a mass shooting.

Really? Out of 46,595 gun violence incidents to date, they only categorize 273 as a mass shooting. Really?

So tell us what you really think about the US Constitution.

I think its a wonderful document but like I said it needs updating. They don't follow the Magna Carta in England you know.

While the United States' Congressional Research Service does in fact acknowledge that there is not a broadly accepted definition of a mass shooting, like the FBI, it does state a mass shooting to be loosely defined as one in which "four or more people selected indiscriminately, not including the perpetrator, are killed." According to the Gun Violence Archive, by the above definition, this would make the Las Vegas shooting the 35th mass shooting in the U.S. in 2017.

IF the US was to ban gun ownership what makes you think that those who have them with the intent to use them for illegal purposes would meekly hand them in?

It wouldn't happen, only those who respect the law would and they would become a bigger sitting target than they are now.

You can't undo what is done and peaceful, law-abiding citizens should not have their rights removed over the actions of a few.

It's guns right now, I'm going to guess you won't be so gung ho over banning weapons when only 'authorized' people can have a vehicle or knife...

So there is no set definition? Looks like to me the GVA defines it as four or more people which are either killed or injured during the incident which makes it 273. Even so its far too many.

I'm not saying banning all weapons, its too late for that, the Genie is already out of the bottle, what I am saying is something must be done to curtail these deaths by gun violence. It doesn't happen anywhere else in the first world with the same intensity and regularity, only in America, so how does America get on board with the rest of the free world and bring its appalling statistics on gun deaths down to respectful level?

That's my point because if they want to ban them then yes some people will turn them in, but a VAST MAJORITY of firearm owners will not turn them in at all. I honestly don't think that I would turn them in either and I am a peaceful law abiding citizen. So if I am iffy about it and I am MDR what do think will happen when comes to people more gung ho than me?

Bought some ammo a week or so back, for the first time in a long time there was also lots of 22LR, apparently since the Gun Seller in Chief left office sales are waaay down.

I noticed that as well last time I went to Walmart a couple weeks ago as well. It used to be around half the case was empty but the whole case was full, so it made it hard for me to get the ammo I wanted. I was looking for .22LR as well but the walmart assoc was an ### and kept hurrying me along.

I don't know of another Western country that has the same gun ownership culture as the US?

There are gun crimes & violent crime in the UK where it is illegal to own a firearm outside of an authorized club.

The US is unique in many ways & because of this it's not possible to look outside it's borders for a solution.

But spouting the same rhetoric every time only serves to heighten the divide between the 2 sides.

I think that any real attempt to remove/amend the 2nd amendment would generate a revolt on a large scale.

They all matter and there is no need to make any changes regardless of the caterwauling from the MDL when they call for eliminating the 1st, 2nd, and 5th Amendments.

130 killed 268 injured in France in November of 2105 by Terror attack using mostly guns (gun laws are very strict in France)

86 killed 434 injured in July 2016 using a truck, in France

Manchester England 22 killed by a bomb in May 2017

There is a common thread her and it isn't guns. Anyone want to hazard a guess.
