I received the alert that my case is ready for interview yesterday (Yay!!)

In average how long it’s taking from there to get the interview? I’ve seen people getting notice 1-2 weeks after. My office is Miami and my case is F2A PD 8/11/16, RD 10/16/17 and I just got my EAD/AP last week! (Almost a year wait)

Interview done as of this afternoon, and our online case status has already changed to "card is being produced".

Here is how things went:

We arrived at 2:00 (our appointment was at 2:30), and went to the security line. They wanted to see both of our driver's licenses and the appointment letter. They then had us walk through the xray machine and they scanned the binder and file holder we had brought with us (we opted to leave our cell phones in our car). After we finished (it took 5 minutes or less), they directed us to go sit in the waiting area.

We had been sitting there all of 2 minutes when we were called back. I believe that we were being interviewed by one of the supervisors, because it said he was a supervisor on the plate outside of his office door.

Once we sat down, he asked to see our driver's licenses again and my husband's passport, which we showed him.

He then asked where we met, and we asked him to clarify if it was where we initially made contact or when we met in person. He asked where we initially made contact, and we told him we met on a dating website, _________.com. He asked us if we knew "around" when that was, and my husband was able to give him the specific date. He asked why my husband knew the date so well and we explained that it was very much a big deal to us. :D

The next thing he asked is where my husband was working now. He saw the last place listed as the company my husband was working for in Australia, and asked if he was still working there. We answered that he wasn't, and we told him he was now working for a local crane company. I pulled out the employment letter we had from my husband's company and gave it to him, and he added it to the file and copied the address down. He said that he was making the correction on the form since it wasn't correct.

We asked about this time if we needed to tell him that our lawyer wasn't coming (we had already asked the front security folks if we needed to tell them and they said for us to tell the officer working with us). He started laughing and said he forgot to ask us, and then he had us fill out a waiver saying that we would be proceeding in the interview without a lawyer. It was comical, really.

He then asked if we had any pets, to which we answered that we just have chickens. He wanted to know if we were going to eat them, to which we responded that we would not be, at least anytime soon, because they give us eggs!

He asked what I do, and I told him I was a veterinary receptionist.

Next he ran down the list of questions about the human trafficking, criminal acts, sabotage, etc. that is actually on the form. He combined a few of them because he said they were redundant and take too long to ask, so that part didn't take too long.

After that, he asked what other proof we had- I gave him a copy of our car title in both of our names, our car insurance being in both of our names, a copy of our joint bank account information (he actually asked for bank statements too which I didn't have- I completely forgot to print and include those in our stuff- he didn't seem upset about it, but I'll know to have those printed for next time.)

At this time, I also gave him my husband's updated medical, which he said he didn't need because technically, the one on file hadn't expired yet (which it has- I'm not sure why the difference in information?) He went ahead and opened it and added it to the file anyway since we had brought it.

We showed him photos of some of our recent trips. He asked us why we were wearing the matching superman shirts, and we explained about that and he started laughing. He also congratulated us on the baby. He said he could tell that it must have been true love for my husband to move over here with all of the mess we had been through with immigration and that we seemed really happy together.

After that, he said that he was approving our application and that we could expect to receive the green card in the next two weeks.

He also took some time to explain what we could expect to do when it was time to remove the conditions in two years.

The entire interview took about 45 minutes, and was much easier than I expected. The officer/interviewer was very laid back and would crack jokes every now and then, as well as seemed to take a genuine interest in our life together.

Glad to be done for the next two years!! Good luck to all of you with interviews coming up soon!

Initial EAD was approved? Did you call USCIS and find out why it was cancelled?
