Great news from me today guys.

I had my AOS interview this morning at 6:45am in the Los Angeles (SFV) field office. Background info: Went without my husband as he’s deployed.

Arrived at 6:15 and there were already about 5 people waiting there. By 6:25 they let us in the bldg and after the metal detector we were in this large room and everyone dropped off their notices at a window. About about 6:50 or so I was called to go in. (Side note but I was surprised that the officers are just people in regular office wear. For some reason I imagined them to wear TSA type uniform and to be led into an interrogation room LOL. The interview was done in the officer’s office with his desk/cubicle). When I saw two large folders of the case files we submitted almost a year ago and our ID photo on his desk it made me feel kind of nostalgic lol. The officer also never smiled but he was kind.

I was definitely over prepared and he didn’t even ask to see half of the stuff I brought (like birth certificate etc). I was only asked about 10 or less questions. First was of course “why is your husband not here” so I presented his orders. He then asked to see all IDs i have (EAD, passport, drivers license, military ID) and to see medical. He then asked “how did you meet your husband” and to see proof of us living together, starting with last years tax return. I gave him the tax return, lease and joint bank account statement. “Would you like to submit any proof of relationship”. I showed him about 30-40 photos of our wedding and 3 vacation photos. I was surprised to see he actually went through all wedding photos lol. Then he asked to see our marriage certificate, and asked what I do for a living.

Most of the time he was typing on the computer or writing things down and not speaking a word. He then said “on my side everything looks good. I just have to ask my supervisor to approve bc your husband wasn’t able to attend.” I asked for clarification if that meant that I was approved, but he said it was up to the supervisor and I will be receiving something in the mail in 1-2 weeks. He then took copies of all photos and my IDs once we left his office (I’m assuming to show to his supervisor). When I was leaving he said congratulations and send me on my way. I was out of the bldg by 7:20.

At around 8:30 I already had the notification on my phone that my case had updated and it moved to “new card is being produced”. Yay!!

Good luck to everyone it’s been great having your support and I know your interviews are happening soon too. I wish you all the best!!

Congratulations! Thank you for sharing your experience with us.

As of August 23, 2018, your request to have your Employment Authorization Document resent to you, referral number SR1XXXXMSC, is currently not assigned for processing. When will it be mailed again?

Hopefully very soon. Sorry for all this delay.

I got such an update, apparently from March 15th.

I have reason to believe these updates might not be "for real":

1. I'm at Atlanta office, which takes on average a bit over a year to get an interview date. I'm at 11 months now, and March would have been 6 months.

2. I have never moved or changed addresses and received all mail from USCIS so far. I have also signed up for USPS notifications a year ago. I have not received anything pointing towards receiving an interview date. I have received mail since (about my EAD renewal).

3. Almost all of the people who suddenly received a notification, received the same one at the same date.

4. Some people who got this notification, already received their greencard or interview date before that date.

This makes me conclude that this update is an accident of some kind, and it is not to be taken seriously.

Please let me know if I'm wrong, as that means I have missed the interview by months. I doubt it, as I think that would mean they consider it abandoned, no?

That’s so sad to hear, can you kindly let me know what did you do, how did you find out you receive an interview did you call them directly , what number . Pls kindly share and so I can do it and keep you posted as well my journey . Thank you

I called the customer service number, +1 800 375 5283. I was worried because an email with an action on my case on March 15 arrived very recently and I was in status "We are scheduling your interview" since November 23. The lady said there was a possibility that I had missed my interview date notification and passed the call to the level 2 officer. At that moment, the automatic voice on the phone said "All officers are busy..., press 1 to configure a response call...". I pressed 1 several times, but it kept asking to press 1 until the call ended. I kept retrying, every time I had to convince the new customer service agent on the phone to pass me to level 2 officer, and it kept ignoring the pressed keys for the response call configuration. Next day, my case was updated, I had no longer in the history of the case the status on November 23, but instead, on March 15 "Case is Ready to be Scheduled for an Interview", and I received another email that an action was taken on my case on August 7.  I have now an InfoPass appointment on September 5 and a service request opened to clarify. At least I know that I didn't miss any interview date.

Well, when they say that the case is ready to be scheduled for an interview doesn't necessarily means that the interview will be scheduled soon. It can take months, it all depends of the local office. At least you know that they won't send you a RFE.

You can't trust in the processing time for your local office, it's not accurate. You would be surprised how many people get their interview done, while in the processing time shows a totally different date.

I hope they can schedule your interview soon. Good luck!!

I came back from Italy last night with AP. The officer sent me to the secondary inspection because he didn't know how to process AP.... but everything went well. I just had to wait more time!

Please tell us what they ask.

Interview went great... 4 questions. Where we met? How many kids? His kids date of birth and my daughter's date of birth. Didn't even take anything from our folder. Nothing! Also said because the fingerprints were done back in November that they needed to do an updated background check so we should hear from them soon, if not within 2 months then theres a number we could call.

My biometrics were 11/6/17. Does this mean I have to redo it? So how come they did not give you a notice to do Bio before interview?

great! I was in Hartford too this morning. My appointment was at 10 am. The officer was very friendly; we spent most of the time talking about other stuff than immigration. Didn't ask for photos. We were asked about how and where we met. The other questions were in the i485 form, went through it all and updated some parameters and that was it. My fingerprints were checked and I did not have any issue with my biometrics ( they were done in November as well). We were told that our file is in order and we will be recommended for approval. I hope it's nothing major and that you will be set soon

I honestly believe every io operates differently..... I never received any notice to redo biometric. My 1st one was on November 24th 2017
