I had a question that may not go here, but please direct me if applicable. My fiancé arrived in the USA last week and we will be getting married March 17 (K1 visa). My question is, where is she able to travel for our honeymoon? I would guess we could go to Hawaii as it is the USA....but what about an Alaskan Cruise that must make a stop in Canada. Or a Mexican cruise that leaves from Los Angeles. Not sure about the law here and don't want to get in trouble...Thanks in advance for your answer(s).

she can only travel within the USA. alaskan cruises or any trip that requires stepping / transiting into another country such as canada and mexico is out of the question. if your fiancee leaves US soil without AP or a greencard then she will not be able to re-enter and all your hard work and waiting to get the K1 visa will all be for nothing and you will need to apply for and wait (12-14 months atm) for a new CR1 visa.

yeah, I would never let her get off the ship on foreign soil, but what if an Alaskan cruise just stops in Canada for fuel...still risky?

yeah, i wouldn't risk even that. it'll be ok if there is an absolute guarantee that you won't be asked to leave the ship but no one can guarantee that.

In case it's useful info: I recently wrote a program to continually check for USCIS InfoPass appointments at the NYC location. I found the vast majority of openings happened at midnight and were swiped up within 30 min or so.

Not sure if it varies by location but be sure to try searching for appointments at midnight if you're having problems.

very useful info, thank you so much!
