Hi, what is the requirement for a police certificate. My wife temporarily worked in Hong Kong, and I think maybe six or seven years ago in the Middle East? For the interview what countries will she require a police certificate for?

For HK.. if temporarily was under 1 year .. not needed.    And for the Middle East .. depends on the country, some do not offer a police certificate expect when applying in person so those countries are waived,

Do follow the embassy instructions letter for everything that is required

From the embassy instructions letter:

OTHER COUNTRY POLICE CERTIFICATES. Applicants aged 16 years and older must also present police certificates from other countries where they have lived for one (1) year or more after reaching the age of 16. As with NBI clearances, foreign police certificates should be obtained in any maiden names, aliases or nicknames used while in the country in question, including different spellings you have used of those names. Countryspecific information on how to secure police certificates is available on the State Department’s web site at http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/fees/reciprocity-by-country.htm

https://ph.usembassy.gov/wp-content/uploads/sites/82/2016/08/IV-Applicant-Interview-Preparation-Instructions-08112016-English-365KB.pdf

There is some helpful information in the link below, there is a link about half way down the page to reciprocity from the DOS that should help with the Middle East police certificate.

she needs a criminal background check for every country she has lived in in the last 5 years

She needs a police certificate from every foreign country she lived in for over a year (unless it is a waiver country). irregardless of how long ago.

Yes ... one year or more, was 16 y.o. or older ...  all that is listed in the embassy instructions letter and the excerpt I posted in my previous comments ... not sure what you are trying to say???????????????

I was commenting on your statement in regards to "THE LAST 5 YEARS" .     Show me where it states that on the USEM website.... Police certificate is required from those that lived in a foreign country for 1 year or more and from the age of 16 years or older.

Do know embassy requirements CAN and quite often DO vary from what you will find on the DOS website.

and he was well over 16 years

so, each country and embassy must be different

When i sent in my CR1 applicaiton all documents were originals but by time they went to NVC, NVC requested the original marriage document so i assume things just get lost at USCIS
