I will have my interview next  month, November. So I should have my medical exam soon, but I am pregnant for 3 weeks now. Will this be a problem during the medical exam? My fiance and I are nervous right now because we are almost there and my pregnancy might give me a denial. I need some answers from anyone who has the same situation as mine.  Thank you!

No, pregnancy wont cause a denial. You must still complete the medical examination, including the x-ray. You can wear a lead apron during the x-ray. Or you can delay the medical and interview until after the pregnancy, if you wish.

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

Pregnancy is not a reason for denial.

Just make sure you tell the medical examiner you are pregnant before the x-ray, though.

I remember one member being asked when their fiancé last visited, to make sure the timeline made sense...

I wondered if that was the issue.

it may cause you not to be able to fly if you get your visa too close to your due date but it will not prevent you from getting a visa.

on a side note if you get to the us before giving birth get married right away to be able to get health insurance since giving birth here with out is expensive.

Does anyone here too has the same situation? Will the doctor at SLEC will need any clearance from my obgyn before I will do the xray? Or I will just sign the waiver? I wonder what are the things I need to prepare in this situation so that I wont waste time and money going back and forth. Thank you.

Why would your pregnancy cause you to be denied? People in relationships become pregnant and they understand this.

As you already know the only concern here is the x ray part of your medical exam and they may need to speak with your OB or they may just have you wear a lead apron to block radiation reaching your reproductive organs/uterus/fetus. It will depend on what the physician decides to do when you go for your medical.

A legitimate question, here is what the US State Dept Foreign Affairs Manual says:

9 FAM 41.81 N6.7 Additional Factors That May Raise Questions in K-1 Cases (CT:VISA-756; 07-27-2005) a. There are several possible discrepancies between the facts stated on the petition and the actual circumstances of the K-1 beneficiary which might lead the consular officer to question whether the relationship is bona fide or which might cause the petitioner to choose not to go forward with the marriage. These include having one or more children not named in the petition, or a prior undisclosed marriage (even if it has been annulled or ended by divorce or death), or, in the case of a fiancée, a current pregnancy. b. Discovery of a ground of ineligibility of the K-1 applicant raises another issue of the petitioners awareness of all of the factors associated with the fiance(e). c. Consular officers should use their discretion in determining whether to return the K-1 petition to the DHS in such cases. They should, however, first solicit from the petitioner information as to whether he or she was aware of the particular circumstance(s) and whether, in light thereof, he or she still wishes to proceed with the proposed marriage. If satisfied in this regard, consular officers need not return the petition. d. Consular officers should return the K-1 petition to DHS for reconsideration 9 FAM 41.81 Notes Page 6 of 9 U.S. Department of State Foreign Affairs Manual Volume 9 - Visas if not satisfied with respect to the bona fides of the relationship or if the petitioner indicates that he or she no longer intends to go forward with the marriage.

While this isn't per se a problem, just make sure the petitioner is aware - and document for the CO this awareness.  Bring a copy of an email from the petitioner where he is talking with you about the pregnancy - for example.

Are you still waiting for the interview date? If so it shouldnt be that far i guess. Once you get your visa, make sure you can fly before your due date. My petition is IR1 and have postponed my interview as i am not comfy with chest xray but my obgyn said it is fine but do it as soon as possible. Also, like one of the comments here, get married asap once you get to US because giving birth there without insurance is expensive. This is one of the reason why my husband and i postponed it as well. We are both living outside US so our insurance covers worldwide except US. :D

Congrats though! :)
