I called NVC today and I was told that my case was reviewed yesterday and they need a police certificate from another country...

I have already received that email by the way

Scan Date September 11...

I am sorry for the cheklist. Hope you provide it to them as soon as possible.

If I may ask, did you live in this other country for over 6 months per why they are asking for the police certificate?

...do good and good will be done onto you...

Sorry for any confusion, I am the petitioner for a parent. She lived abroad for a year. I am a lurker here, not a regular poster, I don't know how to update timeline... So I have been calling every day and getting the standard 11 weeks response, until today. The line was going through fast, less than 5 minutes waiting time... So the first representative said it is in review, 10 minutes or so later the other one said I it was reviewed yesterday and got a checklist, 5 minutes later another one said the same . I was driving home and when I got home, the email was there

Thanks for the clarification and sorry to see you got a checklist.

Did you provide the police certificate for all the countries your parent lived for over 6 months since she turned 16 years? Pardon my being inquisitive, I am trying to understand why you got a checklist and also to help other members (including me) here understand what happened and how to avoid it. Thank you.

She lived in only one country besides our own country. She visited that other country in North America twice and she spent one year each time she visited  that country. I was hoping to get a case complete with a checklist to kind of buy time, because (she)  not being in that country anymore, it is difficult to get police certificate when finger prints are required; still trying to figure how to get Canadian police certificate for someone who is no longer there. That is a complicated equation...

Trust me I understand pretty well what you are going through because I’m currently going through same thing - I lived in 3 different countries myself and I am struggling to get police certificates from two of the countries I lived because they require fingerprints to conduct search in their police records, it means I may have to travel to those countries I’m order to obtain police certificates (hopefully I don’t have to). Right now, they are my show stopper from completing my civil document package for submission to NVC. I wish you all the best.

Does it matter if i filled out ds 261? and put my info in it in mailing or should i just call in laws back in india to do it since i am going back to india next month.

No one will be at home to check on paper they send at my address.

NVC is so inconsistent. Some people are approved and told to bring the police certificate to the interview. I guess that it depends on who reviews the documents.

All NVC does is review the documents and then forward it to the embassy.

We crossed the 11-week mark and they've sent our case for supervisor review. They apparently have 6 weeks to do this, although I have seen people on here get supervisor review done within days.

Hilarious how obnoxious this process is, while the States is looking less and less desirable to move to, compared to just staying here in sunny, efficient, safe, Singapore.

13-Mar-18 - POE

27-Apr-18 - Green card received

13-Jan-20 - Mailed out I-751 packet

15-Jan-20 - NOA date

12-Feb-20 - Biometrics appt completed; Status: Case was updated to show fingerprints were taken

07-Oct-20 - Case ready to be scheduled for interview

06-Jul-21 - Interview scheduled

So I’m the beneficiary but I have live in the US for about 16 years (long story). That’s how I met my husband. I have only lived in my home country for a year since I mover back from the US. However I only sent a police certificate from Ghana I didn’t know I had to get one from the US as well. 😩😩

Just give it a week and then call for your case and invoice number. I was given my case and invoice number after a week from sent to DOS. Good luck !!

That’s what I thought, but wasn’t sure. Thanks!
