Thanks a lot, I appreciate your response! I'll have my spouse get most of those before the medical exam.

When sending in the copies of the AOS and IV papers, I see where the Document Cover Sheet needs to be accompanied with the documents requested. How many of you all also included a personal cover letter for each the AOS and IV documents?

I don't want to "overkill" the whole package considering there is the cover sheet and then a cover letter???

Your opinions please!

Hey check out this posting below from an experience VJ member @pushbrk on his reply to someone with a question similar to yours. It may help clarify your situation or you could contact him privately to assist you directly.

I did not include a cover letter, the cover sheet spells out what you have to send, so if you arrange per cover sheet, cover letter will be repeatition. My opinion.

The NVC provided cover sheet is all that is required, but if you think providing additional information or a summary of what is enclosed in any package, you are free to do so.

@Binna, advising people to contact members for immigration advice via private message is NOT how VJ works.  When people do contact me with their individual questions, I rarely answer differently than, "Please post your question in the applicable public forum so others can benefit from the discussion.  That's how VJ works."

I need help on choosing the correct I-864 for my situation. I have been a student living at home with both my mom and dad. I'm currently doing a paid externship but the income does not meet the income requirements for me to file alone. My parents are willing to help in any way they can, but I don't want to make them jump through all the hoops I have to for this visa... they're older and not computer savvy haha...

So my question is... should I file the I-864 and, let's say, have my mom file an I-864A to boost my income. Or just file 2 separate I-864's between me an my mom?  Also my parents joint file their taxes yearly. So the other route I think is I file I-864, my mom also files I-864, and my dad would file I-864A.... but that seems like a lot of paperwork on their end... I'm just trying to make it easy but more so want to do things correctly.

Earlier today, in attempt to respond to your posting, I mistakenly posted below to a the wrong posting (too much in my head I guess :) ).

Check out this posting by @pushbrk I think it will help you. You may ask further questions in the thread (Financial support forms) if if you need additional clarification and members there will respond to it.

Just called NVC, rep acknowledged that fee issue might have caused delay. she said if we don't get an email by the end of business wednesday, please call and ask for a supervisor to review the case.

Congrats to everyone who's made it through this tiresome process! <3

mine was approved on 9/19 texas service center ,

sent to nvc on 10/6

received welcome letter on 10/18

so may be once your status changes to sent to nvc on the uscis website, you can call nvc in 2 weeks if you don't receive anything

We called everyday situation got worse they just said it can take up to 6 weeks to create case number now, which is nonsense.

We sent an inquiry as instructed on the NOA2 since we got nothing 7 weeks after approval, they reply by email they havent received it, which is bullshit, i double confirmed with an agent i already have my invoice number!!!

So very frustrating.

Approval date : 09/26

yes i am waiting too ... my case status finally changed last week Tuesday that it got transferred ...

Nothing from NVC yet

seems there is a delay by TSC in sending cases to NVC + backlog at NVC

:whistle::whistle:

7 weeks since approval and we got different answers from different reps.

So we called 3 times today, and the night shift people are definitely the most helpful and cheerful!

She explained that we got sent to the new electronic system so it takes longer to create a case number but everything can be uploaded through the process.

And she assured me case  number is on the way, with a HNK initial :) At least i know it will be assigned to the correct ambassy!!!

Oh so if you read the NVC process guide on VJ (http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/NVC_Process), it mentions that the first 3 digit represents the country / location of the case where it is going to be assigned to. And since HK has only 1 ambassy / consulate it should be the correct one.

I heard from another VJ member that their case was assigned to China since they did not clarify HK being NOT part of china when we were born, if you're familiar with our colonial history in any case.
