So....My fiancee had her medical today....passed everything but the xray....said she had a spot show up on her lungs....thou....they didn't show her the xray.  I think it is like the "bullet in the bag" bs.  I believe that if we ask the Doctor when she meets with him in a few weeks. "how much will it take to make this go away" they may give us the amount?  I don't really have time for the BS of waiting to get her here in January after the holidays.  I don't have time to wait 2 months for the sputum test and culture to got thru....but I have the money to pay them off.   What do you all think of this?????   Do you think it is your typical scam to target those who might have money to pay them off?  If so...then I'm all for it....and as a former Forced Recon Marine....I will hunt them down later!!!!

No, I do not think they are trying to scam you in any way. I think your fiancée has a medical issue and it's good she's been made aware of it. I would strongly recommend NOT attempting to "pay them off". You are dealing with a physician who has a working relationship with the US government... It's not up to you to decide you "don't have the time". You are on USCIS's schedule and they won't move faster for you any more than they will for anyone else. We are all having to wait for our petitions to process based on their timetable.

They aren't trying to scam you. They actually double check the results with a second person, so it's not just one. (it apparently used to be one)

You can't pay them off, the hospital is working in conjunction with immigration. You have to just wait and do what they tell you to do.

Thank you for your comment Mrs. Jackson....but...as a former Marine who has planted his boots in 4 different countries absolutely knows how the world works.  Money pays Bullshit walks......and St. Lukes Medical Center doctors and employees are not American Citizens...they are employees working in 3rd world countries assisting the embassy.....if you don't understand the concept of bribery and corruption then please research "bullet in the bag" in Manilla.

It's not a scam.  My wife had a spot on her lung too.  Turned out to be lung cancer.

Yikes....sorry to hear that.....I hope all turned out well in the end. But my fiancee had never smoked, worked around industrial material, or the public. She has always been pillar of health and caution.   IF SHE DID HAVE SOME SERIOUS ILLNESS....ID RATHER HER BE HERE FOR TOP CARE AND THE BEST HOSPITALS IN THE COUNTRY.   She'd have a better chance I feel here curing an serious condition then there.  Sorry I'm irate....but just got the info today.  I don't take negativity lightly after all the money, time and patience I put into this process.

Spend some of that money on a TB test for yourself. It is contagious, if she does have it. Don't put your fellow Americans at risk just because you are impatient.

  1. It's not a scam. It needs to be checked out as it could be a real issue. And if it's actually TB, she needs treatment. She needs care first.
  2. They will give her a cd of the xray, so you can see it yourself if you really want. They don't make this stuff up.
  3. It's a very serious crime to try to pay off anybody in immigration.
  4. It's a very serious crime to make threats against anybody in immigration.
  5. They have people checking these boards...VJ isn't some hole in the wall.

hey bro, I totally understand the frustration with the medical process - actually (to me) worldwide it is an issue.  The purpose is to identify communicable diseases.  They seem to stray.  I wonder too about the 'totally above board consults' that we have been seeing over the last 6 months.  At SLEC, there was even a consult to a dermatologist for goosebumps! The AC in SLEC is reportedly around 20 degrees Celsius, pretty cold for most that don't have AC at home.   A scar on a wrist leads to a Psych consult (where the beneficiary is coached on what to say rather than looking for signs of depression).  These 2 examples were in the March filers thread over the summer, perhaps you remember them....  I've read of issues at UK medicals, as well.  Unfortunately, the medical is the cards we have been dealt.  But, to work around this issue and to still ensure the well being of the beneficiary, I think the follow up appt is where you can ask for a PPD test and ask for something that is more expedient than the sputum culture.  If there is no other method, then you will have to do the sputum.  Here is a timeline from a January filer who had the same situation, just completed the sputum culture with negative results, and is now visa in hand.

http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/profile.php?id=254676

Perhaps a conversation with him would shed some light on the process and yield some tips to help you both through the process.

Sorry this bump in the road happened.  But with some diligence, it will be overcome, as well.

Best of luck to you.          :)

Glad to hear you have enough money but bribery s doctor or physician working with US immigration is not a good idea. Be patient and wait for further testing.

Even you are former marine, that doesnt mean you know how the world works. As a Philippines citizen, yes, bribery and corruption in our country is crazy but NOT all. It is not because it is a 3rd world country, you can just pay them off. SLMC is chosen by US Embassy even though they are not American Citizens. Just be happy that they were able to see the spot. If it is nothing then it's a good news. If it is something then at least she can have medication.

I am not sure how your fiance told you about Philippines but it is not because we are 3rd world country everyone accepts bribery. And if you have ever been to Philippines, you didnt see the good side of it. Just saying
