Volunteering while waiting for AOS/EAD. Advice??

Dear VJ Users - 

Prior to posting this topic, I've searched and read the many threads on this website. But I still am curious about what's the REAL / CURRENT situation. 

So I've submitted my AOS/EAD/AP application in August and did my Biometric in Sept. At the moment I'm just waiting. 

 

I'm a trained teacher (& years teaching + Master diploma) specialized in early childhood mathematics and literacy teaching. Out of pure boredom today I googled "volunteering in my city" and several results popped up. One that caught my eyes is a students' club that provides students age 6-18 with varieties of activities and helps with homework. This really sounds like my cup of tea. This organization is looking for volunteer(s) to specifically for their homework assistance program (i.e. reading, completing homework etc.)

 

Being that I'm a trained teacher and I'm thinking of volunteering in the field of education, am I literally wrapping myself in a red flag??? 

 

Anyone has any advice??

Many cities have volunteer programs like that. Assuming it is an established non-profit organization with numerous volunteers helping/assisting students, I don't see any problems. Seems like a good fit for you!
