Reason for Visa to be expedited?

Hi everyone! We filed for the K-1 back at the end of June, and are (very impatiently omg) waiting on it coming through. I'm fully aware that, realistically, I'll be most likely waiting until February, however, I things at home have changed a fair amount in the past year, the majority of which I've been away for, and I was wondering if some of this might be a decent recent for my request of be expedited at all.

So, I currently live with my parents while I'm in England, since I work abroad as a musician in hotels a lot of the time and it would be a waste of money for me to have my own place for now.
My father's gambling addiction came back with a vengeance while I was visiting my boyfriend in America for three months, and my parents had to remortgage the house, and my mother is now insisting he goes to counselling for his gambling problem, and if he doesn't majorly sort himself out, then she's selling the house and leaving. This would, obviously, leave me without somewhere to live, sure, I could go wherever my mother goes, but i feel like it'll be with a relative or something for a while, and I'd hate to be more of a burden than I already am, so would need to start draining myself of money to find somewhere to live, this would then, result in a lot of monetary loss, a lot of added stress, having to watch my parents divorce and my mum go through this.
Just to add to it, my sleeze of a brother who can't hold a job for more than 10 minutes, buys, sells and takes drugs, constantly gets in trouble with borrowing money from exes and not being able to pay it back, as well as getting in trouble with the law (he's currently banned from driving for 6 months) has yet to move out. He's a constant drain on my parents, in a time where money is tight anyway on them. While I'm home, I try and buy all my own food and help pay for everything I can, whereas he is nothing but a huge cost to them.

So this is my current situation. I don't want to run away to the US and leave my mom alone in all this, but I feel like being able to get me out of their hair will at least help for a while, then I can think about helping my mum, any way i can. Be that sending money home, or getting counselling for my brother or something. 

Does anyone think that would be grounds for expediting my case?

To be honest, you don't really meet any of the points on the Expedite Criteria list provided by USCIS (https://www.uscis.gov/forms/expedite-criteria)

 

You might be able to argue for Severe Financial Loss, but usually this is in regards to a loss for the petitioner, and it would be tough to prove. Unfortunately your family troubles are of no concern to USCIS. 

 

With that said, there is no harm in trying to ask for an expedite. The worst case would be that the request is denied, but from what we can tell through the VJ forums, being denied an expedite requested doesn't seem to harm or impact your timeline in anyway for the rest of the K1 petiton.

I concur. Severe financial loss very likely wouldn't apply here. But the only way to know is to try.

In all honesty, if you apply for an expedite, you are most likely going to be denied as you do not meet any of the requirements for one. Also, expediting is not just a one step process since it goes through not only USCIS but also NVC & then the Embassy and for each stage you would have to submit an expedite request accordingly and each stage can either approve or deny it for their portion of the process. A lot of unnecessary steps and work that even if approved, doesn't guarantee that it would be that much quicker then the normal process. Waiting and having to go through this process sucks and is difficult but everyone here has gone through it and while it may feel like forever, you'll get there.

 

In the meantime, if you haven't done so I would suggest reading through the guides for the next steps in the process for the K1 and need to be prepared for the steps once you get here and everything that you have to do for AOS/EAD/AP after you get here and marry. Trust me there is plenty to fill the time with to make sure you are prepared as you can be.
