I just married my fiance on the 14th (US citizen) but our marriage certificate only has my maiden name, they didn't have a box for new name.

We went to SSA with MC and they refused to issue me a new card in my new name saying USCIS won't be able to find me in their system if i do so.

My question is how and when do i get my new name?

Can i apply for AOS using my husband's name or must i bring some proof (it would've been MC, but ohio doesn't work that way i guess)?

You can apply  for ur Aos using ur husband last name if your comfortable taking ur husband last name. I myself did that so as many other  people  I know  did it. You apply for ur Aos so that  when u get ur EAD or GCyou can apply  for your Ssn using ur husband last  name cause  when  u get ur EAD/GC  it will come with  ur new name.

Oh, so you don't need a document with your new name on it as proof? That's what I was worried about and why I wanted to get my SSC changed, since Ohio does the maiden name only thing, I thought it might complicate things with USCIS. If that's not the case, then perfect! Thanks for the reply!

I don't  know for  about how Ohio  laws work maybe wait for other  people  to give u advice here to. But what I know  is that after you get married you apply  for Aos  you can choose to use ur husband name or  keep  your last name. When use ur husband  last name when u send ur Aos  package u will receive ur noa 1 for all the documents  u sbumitted and it will be in ur married name.
