Ok I need some advice as I'm absolutely panicking now. I just had my medical at knightsbridge (honestly so glad to have it over with) they have asked for more information in regards to my heart murmur and depression from nearly 5 years ago. I've been given two peices of paper for my doctor to answer sign and send back, I'm fine with the heart murmur questions but the depression one concerns me. I've stated that I have never self harmed nor have I had suicidal thoughts, my concern is that it was so long ago I honestly can't remember what I said to my then doctor and if he took anything out of context. If he has put anything down insinuating I had suicidal thoughts is that really going to impact me even though the depression was signed off and closed in December 2012 and I've been fine since?

@Missabc

As @trudi mentioned, you need your GP to state that you're not any danger to yourself or to others.

If you want more information on what they look for and mental health classification, have a look at this webpage:

https://www.cdc.gov/immigrantrefugeehealth/exams/ti/panel/mental-panel-technical-instructions.html

If you were signed off 5 years ago, then I don't think you have anything to worry about if your doctor states those magic words...

Hi

This is what is on the NVC Medical Exam FAQ's.

What if the applicant has been treated or hospitalized for psychiatric or mental illness, or alcohol or drug abuse?

Applicants treated or hospitalized for psychiatric or mental illness or alcohol or drug abuse must present written certification including the diagnosis, duration of treatment rendered, and prognosis.

I am having to go through the same process due to a bout of depression.

As I read the advice above, as has been touched upon above, you need a letter from your GP stating what your original prognosis was, the length of treatment and medication you were on, with the addition that you were not a risk to yourself or other people. Your GP also needs to add what you current prognosis is along with any medication you are on and again the all important words that you are no risk to yourself or other people.

I have seen similar threads on other sites that have done this and have been fine.

Good luck.

Thank you so much for that. I'm going to go to my GP tomorrow I'll get him to send an email to knightsbridge advising the above information. I've been fine for the last 5 years with no medication or councilling. It was just abit of punch in the gut to get this hurdle right near the end. I'm annoyed at myself for missing this important detail out. As soon as that email is sent ill be able ti relax again..... until my interview lol
