I've got a question. We got approved a couple weeks ago and received an email with the NVC number. In the e-mail, it says to complete DS-160 form (a non-immigrant visa). However, when checking out the type of visas they have. it says K visa is an immigrant visa. Could someone please help me understand why this is the case? Thanks!!

K1 is a non-immigrant Visa with Immigrant intent.

It's non-immigrant because it doesn't allow you to stay in the States, you need to get married to be able to Adjust your Status as Immigrant.

I think it's processed as Immigrant and for the Immigrant Visa Unit, because actually they know you are like an spouse for practical purposes, since supposedly you are going to get married and be an immigrant soon.

But yes, still kind of confusing

Hey everyone just looking for some advice..

So NVC received our case number the other day, called and got it yesterday and booked the medical for the 18th October.

What do I need to do now, because they haven't sent any kind of instructions.

Do I need to fill out the Ds160?

Then for the medical do I just need passport photos, police certificate, copy of my summary care record and immunisations from the doctor?

Thanks

Hey all! We submitted the DS160 today and I'm worried he forget to do something. Our attorney filled it out and my fiancé just needed to make sure it was correct and be the actual person to hit submit as the attorney can't do that for him. It was submitted and I received the confirmation page and it looks fine. My concern is I don't know if he checked the boxes in the INTENT AND ABILITY TO MARRY section. I'm guessing the form wouldn't go through if he didn't as it doesn't allow you to skip or leave blank any sections that require a mandatory response, but I can't retrieve it now that he's submitted it. Any insight? Anyone read about this anywhere?

I know this is probably giving you a bit of anxiety. There is actually a way to check your last D160. If you login with your application ID, you will be ask whether you want your confirmation page or create a new application. If you select create a new application, this new application will actually be filled with the information previously submitted for the last DS 160. you can scroll through the pages (I'd recommend taking screenshots or whatever incase you start to question other parts). Be sure however to simply exit after you see the parts that you are interested in. Do not submit this new application.

I guess having your interview done at a newly opened embassy is a benefit! Our case went in transit on Wednesday and then disappeared from the tracker yesterday. When I did a search I got "Your search did not return any data." so I began thinking that it was probably an electronic transfer being a new embassy and all and that it had dropped between the crack of In Transit and Ready. I had planned to call and check first thing this morning but I got a photo from a jubilant fiancee at 4:30 this morning of confirmation that the embassy has received her case and scheduled her interview for October 18th. The medical is next Wednesday and the woman who yesterday was telling me that she was sure that it was going to take until December or January to get to the next step is freaking out because it's happening so quickly (like I told her it would). What a rollercoaster ride!

That's awesome news! Lol, you are getting VIP treatment for being one of the firsts going through the process at the new Embassy

Do you think they assigned you a new case number, with the 3 letters for Pristina? Oh well, the important thing it's it was far from lost :D

The embassy was changed at NVC. When I called to get my case number she read it off to me and I noticed the PRI immediately. I had actually already written SKO on my notepad because I was sure it was going to happen in Skopje, Macedonia. I told the CSR that I was surprised it was happening in Pristina and she said it was the first time she'd ever seen one from there. My sweetie was in a panic because she couldn't wait to get all of her papers ready back in April when I filed and she was sure they were all going to need to be renewed. I had her call the embassy and they confirmed what I had thought, her papers were all fine. We're still waiting for her I-134 to get there. I wasted money expediting it because it sat in New York's transfer terminal for almost 2 weeks. Kosovo is a black hole for shipping. The only shipping company there is Kosovo Limak, a Turkish company that I still yet to have a positive experience with despite many opportunities.

Hi @spike198 That is correct no RFE's on the DS-160 hehe..if you don't fill something out that it wants it won't let you go to the next page.

It is also correct that you can't got back into it after you submit that is why they give you the chance to review the entire document before pressing the magic button.

If you made a major mistake you can do one of 2 things. Start all over and do another DS-160 which will generate a new AA number or what most people to is just notify the

CO at the interview that there was an error.

Good luck and congrats

Steven

Thanks! That's what I thought but I just wanted to have someone confirm it ;)
