Today has been a good day, I was able to change my fiance's interview date from 11/21 to 10/17. I whimsically checked online for open dates this morning and was shocked to see interviews available for 10/17 and 10/24. Surprising because the embassy had pushed back on my Senator and Congressman advising there were no sooner dates available.

Excellent!!! :)

I booked my medical as soon as I received the case number and the interview as soon as the case tracker changed to ready, fully prepared to just take the ds-160 confirmation page and/or a print off from the tracker but I did receive a letter in the post on Saturday I believe from the embassy saying I had been approved to book an appointment and it contained a copy of our I-129f form. I used that letter today at Knightsbridge and will use again next week at interview.

A good tip for the medical as well is to just put all of your documents into an envelope. I bought a portfolio folder, set out all documents in the order they were listed on the confirmation email to then have to remove them all to be photocopied and handed back in a complete jumble haha no point wasting your time if you don’t need to.

That's great tips, thanks so much @Salty2305!

Great to see you got a letter from the Embassy, I ask because I wanted to make sure you needed it for the medical and also because I require it to get a Hong Kong Police Clearance Certificate, they won't issue it unless they have a copy of the letter by the London Embassy, so i'll have to wait out for that. But glad that you got one and that they still do produce paper documents in a timely manner.

Great tip about the documents though, on the other hand shame about the ordering hah!

Yep, people cancel appointments some times, because life happens ;)

Good job on keeping checking, that's excellent news! :jest:

@_Mia_ Everything I've read, including notes from the CDC, indicates that they are concerned with communicable diseases and nothing more. Their purpose is to prevent infectious diseases from being spread. Your fiance is already providing documentation to illustrate that he is fiscally responsible for you and you will not become a public charge when you arrive. If they didn't allow people in that experienced some depression in their life they'd have to kick half of the country out! My advice? Take a deep breath and smile that you're almost there!

Edit: I over simplified my response. They can deny a visa if the physician feels you are a danger to yourself or others or you have a history of drug abuse. I didn't want to draw a parallel between depression and psychological disorders. I don't think either are pertinent in your case. You're going to breeze through the exam and kick yourself for overthinking it afterwards.

@_Mia_ Are you sure that this diagnosis would have any impact on your process?  Quite a few of us suffer from what was listed in your medical; I would think that they would be mainly concerned with contagious diseases, etc.  I really wish the best for you... please don't give up... you're too close.  :)

I'm not sure that is completely correct about their focus.  My fiancée required an additional evaluation for post-traumatic stress on an incident that occurred eight years ago.  She has never had any issues with PST, but they wanted an evaluation anyway.

Finally done.

I disagree based on my fiancée's personal experience.  They get interested in scars, the story behind them, and any associated psychological issues that created them or resulted from them.

I think the major problem is my doctor is unwilling to do anything.. I only have the consultation notes that as incorrect, hence why I asked for them to be amended and that I am given a letter stating that I'm fine.. But I'm not getting anywhere with them... I won't give up but I'm just getting very very tired and frustrated..

Hey Mia, I just had my medical on Thursday and because depression was noted on there starting and ending in 2012 they still wanted my GP to confirm I've never self harmed or attempted suicide and what there prognosis is of me now. When I asked the doctor about that information he just said it's standard procedure for anybody who has depression on the history. My advice would be to book an appointment to see the same doctor you seen last time. Rather than speaking to a receptionist go straight to the person that can resolve this. I know with my doctors i just went straight to my doctor as the receptionist isn't interested that it's important. I had my doctors appointment yesterday morning and they sent the email to knightsbridge by 5pm the same day, I called knightsbridge this morning and they confirmed they had received it.

I know exactly how you feel, when I walked out of my medical last Thursday I felt sick with worry and I didn't feel any better until I walked out the doctors yesterday. As long as you get them magic words from your doctors in writing stating 'she is not a harm to herself or anybody else' you will be fine.

My fiance called NVC a few times, yesterday they gave him 3 numbers ( I was surprised, I always thought you get just one but there was also my alien number and number to use when I am going to pay at the embassy) and told him the case is not ready yet to be sent to the embassy. But today on the tracker it was 'in transit' in the morning and 'ready' in the afternoon! My embassy must be electronic, right?

UPDATE!!! VISA HAS BEEN APPROVED!!!

Fiance had interview at 12:30 pm (1:30 am here). I woke up at 4:30 am here and saw a picture of a document that said she's approved!

The consular officer was very nice. She explained that the interview was more of a conversation than an interview. They were laughing and joking around. At the end he said "Welcome back to the United States!"

Congratulations! Any chance you could share the questions they've asked her?

We are past the medical.  It took 4 days and some grief, but it was cleared without much hassle.  Interview is done, and we are waiting for the visa to be issued.

I agree.  There is a lot of "cutting" in the Philippines.  The medical looks closely at that and the reason for the annulment, if there was one.  There is psychological testing that takes place on top of the physical tests.

PHILIPPINES ONLY!!!  CFO (Commission on Filipinos Overseas) INFO - Can't leave home without it!

PDOS (Pre-Departure Registration and Orientation Seminar) is for ages 20-59.  Peer Counseling is for 13-19 years of age.

It is required to have the visa in their passport for PDOS and Peer Counseling.

GCP (Guidance and Counseling Program) is for K-1 Fiancee and IR/CR-1 spouse ONLY.
