Thanks everyone for the help throughout this journey, it's been such a fantastic melting pot of information and help.

Love the special community we have here!

We got approved today this morning at the US Embassy London, it's been a long road but I am extremely humbled privileged for this opportunity.

Onwards to stalking CEAC for the next week or so until it's issued.

Glad to see so many of you already enjoying your next chapter in life, and to those still working through the system, the beacon of light is shining not far away.

Thank you all for the congrats on getting my SSN :P @rachied26, I knew it was coming because it showed on the Informed Delivery email.

We had gone to the post office on Saturday to make sure they knew I'm a legitimate tenant on that address too, so that might have helped... though we are moving on January 6th to a new place

So the SSN came in time for that, but I'm stuck again regarding my savings, because USAA doesn't allow me to have my own account until after the marriage (and not 100% sure they will then anyway...). Duh...

Congrats to everyone on your progress and fingers crossed for @Keith & Monica, because enough is enough

It's funny that you mentioned going to the post office to tell the you lived there.  We applied for a SSN at the beginning of last week and informed delivery showed it coming on Friday.  We never got it... Back to SS Office we went and she said we have to wait two weeks before we can request a new one (red tape I tell ya) but she mentioned that we should make sure to write his last name inside the mailbox because often times they won't deliver federal mail if they don't recognize the name.  Makes total sense and put our minds at ease as we were worried it was stolen.  :)

I think that would be a very useful general tip to include in the guides, just to make things easier and safer, since it seems you have to have a million eyes in this bunch of processes so things don't go stray.

My first card never showed on Informed Delivery, so no clue what happened there... though still bothers me the fact they didn't mail that first one until I called to ask what's going on 3 weeks after applying...

Luckily it seems most people are getting their SSN cards in the mail no problem, so I guess it's mostly a matter of luck... But sometimes you have to help luck a bit for it to come your way

Agreed!  Another interesting bit from the SS Office (the gal we spoke with both times was sooo nice) but she asked us how we knew we needed to come to the SS Office and asked if they told us during the Visa process.  I of course laughed because they don't tell you anything, but she said so many people come in with the I-94 expired because they didn't know they needed to get the SSN as well as get married.  She was like "it would be nice if they gave you a check list".  Yah, no kidding!!  Anyway, thanks to all of you smart folks here on VJ, we took care of it just a few days after arrival.  FYI, no need to apply for SSN in California before marriage. :)

Any other April filers still waiting on NVC Received? I'm on Week 6 of waiting now. NOA 2 10/31/17

Yes, still waiting on NVC as well and today marks exactly 6 weeks from NOA2. I called around week 4 and the guy told me to wait until week 6 but that his guess is I'd receive something before then. I guess he guessed wrong. He also said that anytime within 6 weeks was normal processing time.  I will be calling again later today.

I did end up calling the NVC office today and the guy told me I should call back on Monday. This is exactly the 6 week mark for me and he said that they could still process it before it moves out of their normal processing time (which would be midnight). The most frustrating part about the whole process is not being able to make any kind of useful ballpark prediction about when things will get done. Based on what I read online when we first applied we were telling family could be as early as October 2017, but almost certainly before Christmas. Now we are telling people it'll probably be before March 2018.

One Day More...  One Day Less... One Day Closer... :jest:

I don't know where to begin this.  I am so beyond frustrated at the moment.  The Police Clearances are at the USEM and they finally acknowledge that they have them, but they won't put any kind of rush on it or allow her to pick up the Visa there at the Embassy, So I am going to have to move her flight again from this weekend to some day in the future that we have no idea when that will be.  They had the PC from Hong Kong in there office from 11/22 (When it was picked up at the Post Office) until I told them that they had it on 12/4.  This is ridiculous they can not put it through quicker than this.  Everything seems to take so much longer than it should need to take.  I just want my love to be here with me.  If the PC were all they needed, why have they not issued the Visa already now.  I need to scream at someone.

Serenity NOW!!

I wish all the best, to get together asap..... wanna help you at leagoodwith the words of support, ... keep you in a good mind and biggest  hope!  I keep my fingers crossed for you both, guys:jest::)...you have overcame long way, you have just short now
