One quick question! I am filling for my fiance who is frim Mexico. We already got Noa2. And are almost ready for the interview. I was wondering if i can get married in mexico after he gets his fiance visa. Since my family and  his are at mexico.

Well you can have a 2nd wedding in Mexico AFTER your 1st wedding (just be sure to have advanced parole so he can get back in to America) in USA but if you marry him BEFORE he comes to USA on the K-1 then that would be visa fraud.

Hope this helps

Anyone have any POE experience at DTW (Detroit)? My fiancee will have her POE there on the 13th.

Detroit is my favourite airport for immigration control.. it’s is usually the airport I connect through when going to see L. I’ve obviously only travelled there on my ESTA before, however every immigration officer there have been super super nice and I’m hoping it will be my POE when I move.

Everything I have read on here is positive. My fiance will actually be doing her POE there on the 29th hopefully. So please do let us know how it goes. I will be very interested to hear.

Hi guys,

I haven't posted here in a while but a quick recap. My NOA2 was approved August 21, 2017 but then things just went down hill. My petition was sent to the NRC instead of the NVC and for 2 months I went back and forth with USCIS and NVC and neither one was willing to help and even show any compassion. Finally got my congresswoman involved and she helped find my case, provide a new approved NOA2 (with a new date) and expedited it to the NVC within a week and a half. I called the NVC yesterday and was given my visa case number and the status shows "At NVC". However, when I had asked the rep what next steps are, she said my paper work was going through 'additional processing". I know the dreaded phrase is "administrative processing" but didn't know if it was the same thing.... Can anyone provide any insight on this please and roughly how long it will take till the petition is sent to embassy? Thank you in advance.

You should call and request an expedite due to USCIS error!

Well it is about 13 hours until she goes in for her interview now. 10pm EST it starts so I am expecting a call before midnight with the news. So nervous and distracted today. I know it will be fine she has her binder of materials that we went over last night for me/this morning for her. Just that anticipation, it is like being a kid on Christmas again. I am realizing I probably won't sleep much the night before her POE either at this point.

Awhh Good luck hope it goes well!

Hi,

Do I need to renew my passport after marriage, in order to travel within US? Or can i travel with my old passport and renew my passport with the name change when the AOS is done? (My old passport expires 2022)

I want to visit my fiancé's parents in South Carolina for Christmas, but am worried I won't have enough time to renew passport before the trip.

Any help regarding this would be so appreciated. Thank you!

To be clear, only if your not flying.  Flying requires ID.  Since she doesn't have a US drivers license, she would need valid ID that matches her name to the name on the ticket.

Finally done.

Just get a state issued ID in the new name and you can use that for a flight. Otherwise use your original last name from your passport for your airplane ticket until you have an acceptable ID to fly with.
