Why did you guys decided San Francisco at your POE? Could you tell us how it goes?

Im pretty sure that will be my POE since my fiance lives there!

Still not absolutely sure.  Depends on the price. We're leaning that way as there are more flight options, and since San Jose has a large Vietnamese community,  that they would have more experience.

POE will be determined by the flight that you get.  If you get a direct flight from Mexico to SF, then yes, if it stops somewhere else in the US first then no, it would be there.

Oh I knew that, my question was why did you choose San francisco?

I just realized I didn't tell you about my experience getting the SSN in Salt Lake City this past Monday

It went really smoothly and it took less than half an hour. We were dreading a long wait since we hadn't made an appointment beforehand but was a walk in instead, but the waiting time until we were called to a window was in the range of the 5-10 minutes.

The lady processing my paperwork was actually quite new to the job, and mine was her first K1, so the supervisor was there with her all the time. They checked my visa/passport and SS5 and I also handed them my birth certificate and sworn translation to verify identity.

At the end of the process they handed me a letter with my record number to contact them if I don't get my card in the mail in 4 weeks maximum. They said because my POE was so recent, it might take a few days to verify the documents, but sure enough not the whole 4 weeks. I apologized for the short waiting time, but they said I was perfectly fine and the problem was when people waited till last minute to show up there for the SSN, since that can cause problems with the i94 expiring soon.

Anyway, I don't have to go back there, just wait for the mail to arrive, so that's good enough for me :D I'll let you know how long it ends up taking.

Thanks Estibaliz. Was your I-94 record when you POE’d recently already published on the https://i94.cbp.dhs.gov/I94/#/home site when you applied?

I’m wondering

- how long it takes for that site to update after POE

- if the SS officers use the same db (presumably so)

Of course I forgot to mention the i94 on my previous post :P

I checked on Sunday (two days after my POE) and saw it was already updated and available, so that was the reason why I decided to give it a try on Monday :) I have the same doubt about them using the same DB or not, but I guess we'll somehow know depending on how long it takes for my card to arrive.

You have to indicates your estimates POE date. They know you are guessing because it depends on what you end getting your visa in hand, so don't give it too much thought.

Regarding your other question, I marked yes because I had my olld vaccine registration from when I was a kid plus I knew I would have the DS3025 from the medical at the time of the interview.

We discussed the topic here before a nd other people said they marked no because they didn't have documentation at that very moment... and I think they said it asked for clarification when you mark no so you can explain your answer. So not really that important either. Go with whatever is more accurate for you or you feel more comfortable with.

Just a quick update on some awesome developments with our case! Sam's medical is booked for the 1st of November, and his interview is booked for the 9th at 10am! I'm hoping this should leave enough time for the medical results to arrive. I just can't believe it's all finally happening!

Met on 15th of October, 2014 - started dating soon after

Became separated by the Atlantic Ocean on the 11th of July, 2015

Lots of Skype, visits, and love later...
