I called NVC yesterday. 10-4-17 and was told our case was received that day but not yet assigned a case number. I called back after work tonight, 10-5-17 and was told we have a case number but he could not give me any details. Long story short, the USCIS entered my last name as only "V".  #######. The NVC officer i spoke to was super helpful and pulled some strings to give me the case number and invoice number.

Visa was approved in HCMC today. I will fly back there on 11-16 to help her finalize a few things, then her and I will fly back to Kauai for her first Thanksgiving. I just got back on 10-27. Racking up the frequent flier miles on Korean Air.

I cant fit it into my bag otherwise it's that big! And I'm not holding it the entire journey incase I end up putting it down and walking off my mistake haha

Thank you, but I am just feeling lonely and depressed today because I don't think that it will be Monday as we were hoping.  I don't see her getting her VOH by Thursday afternoon, which means no CFO on Friday and not able to fly on Saturday to HK and Seattle on Monday.  So just feeling down right now.  I am very happy that Tuyen will be with you on Tuesday though.  Looking forward to meeting the both of you.

Hi. From UK, fiance in California. NOA1 on 11 April and no RFE or NOA2. We keep being told to wait for the online system to update. My fiance is very worried about upsetting them, and so we are going to wait until the online tracker hits past 6 months. To be honest, if we wrote to senator, it would have updated online by then.

I used to be the same way...Don't rock the boat...But since receiving an RFE and mailing it back in mid-Sept, I've been waiting for our NOA2 and was told they had an additional 60 days from receipt to adjudicate...Meaningless to say the Mr nice guy approach has gone out the window...They know exactly how I feel about them! I never have cursed them, but they know where they stand with me I promise you.

The problem with USCIS is that there is no accountability when it comes to the Adjudicators...They should assign them numbers and give that number to the petitioner when they draw our case.

The system should then track historical RFE request/adjudication timeframes for each individual Adjudicator. They should then reprimand and/or terminate any Adjudicator that exceeds standard timeframes.

Frivolous RFE requests are the number one hindrance to a smooth immigration process. And let's face it, some Adjudicators request them for anything they can think of or just obviously do more talking at work than working.

We all have reviews at work that not only affects wages but job security as well.

Just wondering we arrive in the US November 20th and we plan on getting married December 15th, once we are married I'm aware that you have to fill out I-1485 - application to adjust status and that are concurrently able to file your I-1765 Application for Employment Authorization (EAD) and I-131 Application for Travel Document (AP) at no additional cost.

 

 

How long does this process usually take? I bought a return flight ticket as it was strangely cheaper and I booked the return ticket for end of march thinking it would be nice to see my family before I started working etc. 

Do you think this is too soon?

Regarding your AP and EAD, I personally have to say anything before around May seems too tight to me, and I personally wouldn't risk it
