It’s been very quiet here today.  Guess everyone is busy!

I think a lot of people are in the middle of Medical, Interview or POE at the moment.

Rashmi cleared medical while I was sleeping. Now she just has to pickup her sealed document package on the 6th and do the interview on the 9th. So progress.

Visa issued yesterday. Flight booked and he'll be arriving on the 21st, just in time for thanksgiving. POE is Ft. Lauderdale. Anyone else use this airport for POE? I've used it when I visited him and it was fine. We will be getting married December 1. The reason we are doing it so quickly is because we want to have our reception in Jamaica on 4/25 so we need as much time to get the paperwork done as possible. I've read lots about next steps but I'm a bit confused by some of it. Knowing that we need to travel, what should we do first?

That's awesome that he'll be here for Thanksgiving!  So happy that all of your patience is finally paying off!

LOL!  I'm sure Tuyen will be the same way!  I'll be sure to whip up a batch of Vietnamese dishes into the mix!  It might help allay some of the homesickness and culture shock that I''m sure many have felt before.

Thanks @Keith & Monica, your POE is fast approaching too. It's really exciting

Thats great news @_Mia_! I'm sure they will be able to send off your medical as soon as they receive that email.

Congrats @spike198 on the flights. That's one day after I arrive. It seems everyone is aiming for thanksgiving if they can

This is will be my first ever thanksgiving. I'm not really sure what to expect. Us brits are quite reserved so I'm hoping it's not too much for me

Yay!! You'll be fine. Although everyone kind of celebrates a bit differently. My family lives on the east coast and I'm on the west so we won't be spending it with my family, just some friends. And football! Of course, he (like you probably) doesn't watch American football so I'm sure he'll be very excited about that :)

We are still under Administrative Processing. They asked us both questions separately and of course my responses matched. We have generated over 5000 pages of chat (seriously), we ought to know a little about each other by now, hehe, not to mention all the video chat. The case has updated twice since the interview on Tuesday. I think they are getting information regarding Alina's daughter's biological father or trying to find him since they have no contact.

The fact the status has been changing lately seems like a positive sign to me. Keep an eye to see if it changes to Non-Immigrant, since the Administrative Processing is still part of the normal process :)

How much do you want to have the reception on 4/25 (that, by the way, it's my dad's birthday)? I'm not sure on how fast things are moving right now for AOS, EAD and AP, but if it was taking lately around 5 months for the Advance Parole, I would be worried that's too tight

Don't worry I think we are getting married before you as well. Current plan is December 8th (10 days after she lands). But we can do it mostly because she already lived in the US, has a SSN, and had a US drivers license. So it makes it a bit faster to get the Marriage documents.

Yeah, I'm more bummed than worried, because I wanted to be done with all the paperwork sooner than we are going to be (once again I'm the one doing everything most likely), and also because I wanted to be done with all the stressful parts once and for all... Here you don't need the SSN or drivers license to get the marriage license, so I could have got married any day after POE.

I know I'm being a bit whiny and maybe ungrateful, but I never really wanted a wedding and I'm not looking forward to all the hassle. The fact we have to do it this way because of Gary's family and co-workers, when no one my side is going to be here, just gets to me some times

I totally understand. My father was trying to invite himself over on the 8th. My mom won't be here. My grandmother is coming over only to be a witness and because my grandfather is a retired minister and the backup officiant. My cousin who lives one town over is a registered officiant here. It will be like 8 people in our living room in front of the fireplace and then out to dinner.

Rashmi decided that since her family couldn't be here anyway and we couldn't plan a proper thing to just do a quick wedding and do a bigger thing next year. The truth is if the local judge did officiant duties we probably would have gotten married at the courthouse just the two of us and then worried about a bigger thing next year.

Something small like that is what I was aiming for... Not that we are having anything big now, but what was just a simple ceremony is probably going to be lunch and wedding cake too now :P

When Gary got married first time, he didn't tell his parents, so we kind of owed them to have more of a wedding this time. His dad said he wasn't coming at first, which, honestly, hurt me a bit... I haven't met him on person yet, just Gary's mom and sister that I get along well with, so it hit me hard for a second the fact he didn't want to come for the wedding, since I'm not responsible for anyone's past mistakes. Luckily enough that has been sorted out... but yep, having the wedding others want because sometimes you have to do the right thing.

I am more ornery than Gary I suspect. My family knows I am going to do things my way regardless of what they say. But grandparents are in there 80's, still able to travel and it is only about 2.5hrs by car. So they want to drive up, meet Rashmi just them and then do the wedding the next day. They actually offered to stay at a hotel and we had to insist that just stay in the spare bedroom that actually has the quilt she made me and was painted to match that.
