I am so very sorry. Did you get married and file for AOS? Or is he still here on his k1?

Here I am again, reviving our old thread!

How are the Feb 2017 filers doing? I was thinking about you all yesterday when I was exclaiming to my wife that this is the first spring/summer she’ll see in the USA (when she visited, it was always winter -her summer in Argentina). Hiking! Swimming! Wild flowers! She’s a city girl who longed for nature, so I’m excited she’ll get to have this.

We’re still waiting for the EAD and AP, had biometrics around a week ago for her greencard, etc. I keep reading the more recent I129 threads and think we all were so lucky to be able to file before the process got really slow.

Anyways, just checking in. Have a beautiful weekend and let us know how things are going, if you can!

It's my first year with a Texas summer and I'm already grumpy 😂.  I've had my EAD/AP since December.  I worked at a daycare for a few months but I couldn't stop comparing it to my old daycare job back home in Canada (which I loved), so I am trying out something new.  I don't expect to have my Green card interview anytime soon as I saw a post awhile ago from a couple in Dallas and they said their green card process took 16 months (I am 7 months in).

Otherwise, I am doing good. I was afraid to drive for a long time (A lot more traffic than Im used to) but I am slowly venturing farther away from the house.  I'm still scared of the highway though lol.   I am hoping to visit home in July, so I am.excited for that.

I am glad to see you are doing well and I hope the rest of the group is too.  This is my first time on the site in a few months. I agree.... We got lucky with the 3 month wait between NOAs!!!

Hey 2017 Feb filers!  Great to see updates from some of you!  I've been seeing some of the I129 threads and agree we got pretty lucky last year to get in under the wire of long waits.  Things have been going really good for us although my partner is going stir crazy not being able to work.  Hopefully that will all change very soon.  We have our green card interview on Monday, May 14th in Chicago!  For some reason our AOS process has sped through, paperwork was received on February 7th and we're already having our interview on May 14th, so just over 3 months of processing for us.  We're pretty shocked it happened so quickly and have been pulling together all the paperwork and photos we can for the interview.  We were prepared for a longer processing time based on how AOS has been going for others but we are happy/excited/nervous to have this next step wrapped up very soon hopefully.  So, it looks like we'll go from initial I129 application submission to Green Card in a total of about 15 months.

I hope everyone else is doing well and gets through the next steps quickly!  I'm very sorry to hear what has happened to @Lovemycroatianman especially with all of the ups and downs of going through, and then finally getting, the K-1 only to have things not work out.  Good luck to everyone!

Hmmmm, I’m not sure actually. Does it make much of a difference?

Not that it matters, but this is the thread for February 2017 filers. Maybe you meant this one:

Still confused...hes still here...he freaked out the last day of the visa which was may 13th...called a mobile pastor to marry us then called him back saying I changed my mind while having a panic attack.   I did read that all is not lost...we can do a spousal app with aos...but thats over $400 extra...I told him hed have to have his parents pay it Cause that was his fault...so right now hes still making a decision but he doesnt have long...I told him its not fair to do this to me...its been emotionally exhausting and I've been very sick since that weekend....I just cant take anymore....but he obviously doesn't want to go home.idk😑 I told him I rather date other men if he doesn't know what he wants...Ive given 2.5 years and thousands of dollars....I am over it.

Tell him to move out then. He can then choose to stay or leave the USA, his decision.

If he's not all in, why would you be torturing and exhausting yourself?

Read some of your past posts... ugh. Really sorry you're going through this... Stay strong, and don't let this dude continuously bullshit you over and over again. You deserve better. At this point, it sounds like he might try anything to stay, which isn't going to end well for you. Good luck, this is a terrible spot to be in.

Hey everyone!

I received my Bio metrics appointment for both I 485 and EAD. I went and did them and then I received my EAD and it expires on 12/27/18. Meanwhile I haven't heard anything about my greencard and it says invalid when I try to check status using the receipt number they provided me. I've tried to contact them using the 1-800 number and they don't have an option for talking to an officer. So I have few questions.

a) How do I get to talk to an officer? (Maybe I'm doing something wrong or not understanding their menu) There's no options in the main menu so if someone can give me how to get to that option clearly, that'd be great.

b) Since my EAD expires on 12/27/18, and hasn't heard anything about my greencard, when do I need to apply for a new EAD

Thank you very much!

At this point in AOS there really isn’t any way to talk to someone via phone.

Your EAD expires in December....you need to wait about a month (until the EAD is about to expire and apply for a subsequent EAD) you may also be able to make an info pass appointment at your local office and apply there.

I checked...the Omaha office Is a fairly fast office and you should probably expect an interview any time now....(the USCIS website says the time frame to complete the I485 is 6 to 16 months).

Wishing you the very best!
