Wow! So quick! Congratulations!!!

Your review mentions there were only formal questions from the form? Were you and your husband interviewed together at the same time?

Congrats. You are so lucky. I wish we had a faster office. Oh well haha my interview is about 6 months away or more. If I am lucky maybe less. I am not very lucky.

Well I heard from the company I had the three interviews with and they just emailed me to let me know that they are still waiting for my background checks to be cleared. My husband who works for them says that means they want to hire me but can't until the background clears otherwise they would have not bothered waiting and just emailed to tell me thanks for applying but you were not a good fit. Oh I do hope so. I know the vendor that does the background check has to check all my Canadian things so that is why it is taking longer. They checks required for employment were education history, work history and criminal record check. I said to my husband darn I should have sent them a photocopy of my criminal record check from my immigration cause it is still good. LOL That one can take a month with the RCMP sometimes although hopefully cause it is work related less. They started the check 2.5 weeks ago so I am hoping it will come clear soon. I just want to have a job and make some money so I can feel I am contributing to our lives instead of sitting here like a lump. Although my husband makes it very clear that I am not doing that as I clean, cook and take care of him. HA

Hiya Kateryna! Everything here is good and well interesting. We had a kerfuffle with my husband's ex but we have now cut all ties to her and he told the kids if they wanted to talk they knew were to find him. His ex is a manipulative person who airs all her personal problems on facebook. Sigh she had completely slandered my husband on a post saying he was the reason she was so poor and that her and her new husband and the kids were scarred because of him. Ton of stuff and well she was called on it by people that know them both so she took the post down thank goodness. For one in the divorce she wanted no child support, no alimony because she just got a huge inheritance from her Mum passing. 3 years later almost a 750k gone and its my husband's fault. She divorced him so he couldn't get his money on her Mum's money. Anyway my husband was feeling super good about it all this morning so that is good.

Him and I did fun stuff today. He surprised me by taking me to the zoo and buying me a membership there. We have the best giraffe program at the zoo here and he knows giraffes are my favourite animal. I got to feed them and pet them and yes my bucket list is finished. LOL

I hopefully will hear about the job this week. I have my fingers crossed. I really do need something. I am going CRAZY in the house. Even though I volunteer twice a week now at the library. lol

How are things with you?

Oh wow, dear, all these things with manipulative exes are devastating.

We have quite the same situation here, though not with facebook posts but with messages, calls, etc. that are like a lightning discharge for me each single time. I just pray when the child will grow up (she's 5 now) we won't have any contact with that person.

Meanwhile our family life moves on - I received a green card and still can't believe it happened. It was a loooong way.

Tomorrow we are going to Social Security office to delete that saying "valid for work with DHS authorization" and next week I'll try to pass driving exam.

And of course I've started to search for a job. Hello new life, now officially legal :)

I am not sure I will even get to work. :( I tried to get my SSN changed to my married name using my EAD and I waited 10 days before going in to do so from receipt of card. Its been 5 weeks since I went to the SSA. The employer who I assumed was gonna hire me asked me for a pic of my SSN card because they could not verify me. :( So I sent in the pic of my card with my maiden name and a pic of the letter SSA gave me when I went in for the change. I explained what happened and hoped that things would be alright. I sent them the stuff last Friday and I have yet to hear back from them so hopefully this week. I kinda think I am gonna get told that they can't have me work if I can't be verified. Why is this all so complicated. Why did I even changed my name. I am not sure my husband can survive if I can't work. He has such bad health problems that we need another income. :( Part of me wants to quit and move back to Canada and just apply to have him move there but with his health issues I bet that wouldn't happen either. I love my husband so much and I know we can weather this storm but gosh it seems impossible right now. :(

I'm not sure about Texas rules, but in California we have an assembly bill 60 that is suited for situations like ours. Basically, here you can apply for a driver's license without having to submit proof of residency. There's a list of docs they still need from you, but it was something like a passport and a US-issued document (which is what your SSN and marriage certificate are).

So, look up if your state has anything like that. Also, keep in mind that the people at the DMV might not even know this themselves, which is terrible. They were refusing to issue me a license, so I literally had to print out the AB statement from their own website, bring it in and tell them they're wrong.

My EAD took almost 6 months, but that is also because I had an RFE. Hope you get yours soon!

I got an email yesterday from an online portal saying there are no updates on my case LOL How useful. But it's finally working I guess!

The e-mail also told me last time they took action on my case on June 18, but it's not showing up anywhere on my status. Wonder what's up with that.
