We have the same license problem as some of you.  My husband's just expired with his visa and we're not sure if they'll except NOA1 for renewal.  Have to go in and see.  Certainly hope we don't have to wait for his green card :/

They told me whatever document you are bringing in has to have an expiry date on it (like a continuance of date) they wouldn't accept noa1 i797c for aos because it didn't have a date on it so I'm waiting on my work permit. Everywhere is different though. What state are you in?

You probably won't have a travel document number.

The non-immigrant visa number is the number from your K1 Visa (the one they put in your passport) it should be in the lower right hand corner of the visa next to the petition receipt number and is stamped in red (ours started with a K and had seven digits.)

Your other question on the petition receipt number -- that's on your visa is well (see above) and is also the same as the number on your I-129's NOA2 (the I-797 form) receipt, upper left corner, literally the very first thing on the I-797. Ours started WAC1... and has 10 digits.

Thank you so muchhhh!!! Very helpful!

So I got my drivers license today!

(Illinois)

However .....it does expire on the i94 date unfortnately which for me is feb 17 2018, next month.

Between that and the date of when I get a work permit I cannot drive.

It's super silly if you ask me.

They let me keep my Canadian license.

I only had to show my passport,i94, marriage cert and ssn card (originals)

I did not require anything from my husband.

My SSN came by mail so they used that slip attached to the ssn or my address otherwise I had a bank statement just incase ready.

I only had to do a written test and a super easy vision exam. Written I practiced some online tests the night before it was easy I got 100%. It's 35 questions and you need 28 right than the computer shuts down.

You still have your Canadian license -- check the state laws, you can probably drive under that.

We figured that if the state wouldn't renew the license, they are saying that she is a non-resident, in which case it's legal to drive with the Canadian license. If she is a resident, they should issue the license, so it's a catch-22 on them, not us. :)

The AZ DMV told us they wouldn't take anything other than the green card and that there was no way to renew between the I-94 expiration and the green card -- but the same person also issued a learner's permit instead of a license.

I think the key is finding someone who knows what they're doing. When I read up on the federal size, states apparently supposed to renew on a NOA1 for an i-485 but not all do.

Hello, I know in US embassy Manila that we have to fill out DS -160.  But do we also need to fill out a DS-260?

Our email instructions says fill-out DS-160. Then the next paragraph says bring DS-260. Which is which?

Yes that's correct they can renew ... i asked this question. Its to a max of I believe 180 days but after green card only. Is what the DMV told me as I pulled that document out. The reason they won't use the 1797c noa 1 is because there isn't an expire date on it.

I797a is different and that is the approval for green card I believe so some documents say i797 and mean a not c.

I read I could drive on my Canadian license for 3 months technically the i94 date. I however never noticed it saying as a resident (which we are not) I will have to read about that again! Interesting fact!

@twoDs I reread and it's not clear if I can drive on the Canadian license .. It does say the word resident but I'm not sure if they mean legally a resident or just residing here. Also temporary visitors need to get a temporary visitation license after 90 days or so so I wouldn't risk it especially in the case of an accident. I'l Just wait. It shouldn't be too much longer to get a Work permit after feb 17 expiry anyways    thank though!

Hey everyone! Just about done with all the AOS forms finally. Out of curiosity, what did everyone end up using as supporting financial evidence for the I-864?

So far we’ve got an employment letter, 6 months worth of pay stubs and the most recent year’s (2016) tax return transcript. Is this enough or are we missing something important?

We included the 2016 tax transcript plus the w2 and 1040 etc. I think it is enough. We also included an older letter of employment from his work that we had from August but attached a current payslip to show he's still employed. I think it's more than enough.

Hi,

I am in Chicago as well, I did my DL test and my DL expired on the same date as my I-94. I tried to extend it in Lake Zurich dmv and they said I should come again when I have either my ead or green card, so I  went to Waukigen.  In Waukigen dmv I  brought my noa1 hard copy and marriage certificate copy and the guy faxed it to Springsteen and after he called them to check wethee they will aprove it. I got my DL extension expiring on my marriage anniversary. They extended it almost a year. I shared this experience already but possibly you have not read it. So I do not know what part of Chicago suburb are you living in but my suggestion is to try this in Waukigen.

Good luck

I didn't see that but that's really interesting ! I have heard them talk about faxing to ask but someone trumped them in the process at the DMV. I live in Chicago not in a suburb it's hard for me to get out there right now with my husband working alot lately but i think I'll be okay without driving for a month or so after my expiry but if I don't get a work permit in time than I will take your advise ! Thank you!

Hello how many tax reports do i have to include in I 134? Some say just one others say 3 years. Also, do I need to include bank accounts, money deposited blah blah or my yearly salary is already enough since it is more than the 125% they require above poverty line?

what can i include as evidence for then interview? Currently we don’t really have an engagement ring. Hence, we don’t have engagement photos. we wanted to marry each other but we didn’t see that an engagement ring would be necessary if we can just save that money for our future instead.

We did see each other more than 2 times for the past 2 years. I also came home when his father got diagnosed with cancer.

We have many call logs, monetary gifts during occassions like Christmas or birthdays and items we gave to each other.

We submitted 1 yr of taxes if it's over 125%

Not much evidence at the interview-only what they asked for on their checklist (and they didn't even Take everything on the list)

Honestly you should check with someone who took an Interview  in Philippians as ever country differs.

Had my biometrics testing today.

My appointment was 10am and we got there for 920am. I went in anyways and was out within 15 minutes max.

They took my finger prints and photo and that was that.
