We got married !!! Friday December 1st downtown chicago at the city hall just after 215pm ish!

The judge was amazing ! Everything went so smooth. We dressed up in wedding dress and suit got the bouquet and all! Drove around downtown taking photos all over Chicago than had a later dinner just Stephen and I on the 95th floor (at the signature room) with a window view overlooking Chicago. He surprised me with a mini wedding cake and flowers (hes not a flower guy) so it was very special to me. As fast as the day went by it was all we really needed and turned out great! The most fun was running around downtown ..everyone was congratulating us all over the place ..We could really feel the love!

Yay so we both have December 1st for our anniversary. :D I love that!!! Congrats to you both and aww that is so sweet of Stephen for doing that.

Hello everyone! It's been weeks since I last visited this page as I was really busy :D We were in SoCal last week for thanksgiving. :D we also looked for wedding venues and bought a gown. I wasn't expecting it at all because I thought we will just gonna get married at the courthouse. 🤔 We will have the wedding their in January. :)) anyway, I just really want to ask questions here.. I haven't applied for SSN yet as my fiancé always gets off work at 6PM every weekdays, he starts work at 6AM, so he can't accompany me to the SSA office.. My question is, can I just apply alone? Without him? :( I really need to get it already coz everybody says they won't issue it anymore 14 days before the i94 will expires and they won't still issue it when it expires I have to present a greencard. :( Can I just apply alone? I am here in Chicago. I'm not sure if it's okay. 😔

I just finished back reading too and yaaaay! CONGRATULATIONS to everyone who had their weddings!❤️❤️❤️

I went by myself and that is no problem. All you do is make sure you have your passport and a copy of your I-94. :) My fiance also weeks weekdays from 8:45am-5:45pm so I had to do it myself. LOL I am gonna pick up our certified copies of our marriage license on Monday and head back to the SSA office to change my SSN card to my new married name.

Woohoo congrats on getting a gown. Look forward to your wedding pictures in January.

Depends on when your case got approved. Your timeline is not updated. You can try calling 2 weeks after approval. Sometimes its fast sometimes not. They got our case 12 days later by I didn't get my number til 21 days after.

I got the approval from the USCIS las Nov 1. I called the NVC on the last week of November and they said they have not received it yet.

Hmmm maybe NVC is starting to get backed up. I see from other posts this is happening a lot. They do initially say it could be up to six weeks. There is a thread of people with November approvals waiting for NVC.

Quick update on us -- the SS card showed up Saturday, we applied Monday so less than a week to get the card.

We heard back from the pastor at the itty bitty church in a nowhere town we want to get married at and we think we've set a date!

This week it's bank and driver's license and signing up for health insurance (which will be a new experience for both of us, as my insurance was grandfathered and is a 15 year-plus policy I've been on.)

Normal processing time from USCIS to NVC and actual MNL# (case number for the philippines) is about 10 business days. Call again on monday and every day after that.

Soooooo his interview is coming up on December 11th and we're sooo excited that it's finally almost here. Anyone have any interesting/"hard" questions they asked them at the interview? We're trying to prepare for what types of questions are asked. Thanks <3

Thank you!

Great news on the ssn!

We are still waiting for our bank cards to  come in the mail it's been over a week and a half..maybe due to thanksgiving. So lesson learned keep some cash aside as it takes time apparently lol.

We have to do the insurance thing too!

And super exciting about setting a date congrats!

Nothing "interesting" pretty basic questions to be honest like "have you ever been married" "what company does your fiance work for" "have you met their family" "who travelled more to see each other" "what day did you meet on" "fiances bday" "what do you like best about your fiance" etc super basic questions

Good luck 😊

Yeah I wish I had a car but alas no dice. However once I start working I will be saving some of my money to go towards one because my fiance's van probably won't last too much longer and he definitely needs something because his work is so far away and not on a bus route.

We just got back from a nice walk down in one of the nature parks that is about a mile from our apartment. So so so pretty. :) Worked off the chicken tacos with quinoa and zucchini I made us for lunch. :)

Yeah you file the I-485 with the I-765(Application for Employment authorization) and the I-131(Apply for Travel Document) at the same time that way you do not have to pay extra fees for them just the AOS one. :) Oh and you need the I-864(Affidavit of support)

We get married December 9th and will file our AOS once we get my fiance's christmas bonus. I already have the I-485 filled out minus one spot I am unsure of just need to look up the answers. Gonna fill out the other two today and that way we are ready to go. :)

Do you need to submit a new affidavit of support or is this a copy of everything that had been submitted before ?
